Hello forum members and moderators, is this site still active as it seems a little dead...

It’s still got a pulse… a very very slow one. Many forums have gone this way as the majority flock to social media platforms.

Also many of the forum members that were very active with projects and trips have families and other growing responsibilities so forum activity and mods etc tend to go by the way-side. Really the biggest factor is that social media makes it far easier to access info on group pages, it also makes it easier to spread misinformation and it’s harder to search old information that’s not in the current activity pool.

Patience is needed around here these days. All we can do is hope it becomes more active, that people post their questions, experiences and projects with associated pics. That’s how forums like this will become busy again.

I hope the info already on the forum is helpful!

Cheers

Thanks for the reply...

The problem is with social media platforms is that people tend to know less about the specific car that you're looking to buy (or you're having trouble with)... I'm in some other forums such as Bimmerfest and Just Commodores and they both seem to be really thriving but Subaru forums do seem to be lacking on the internet...

I was chatting to the hosting Admin yesterday He has paid the Ausubaru domain reg, hosting and ssl certification for another year out of his own pocket.

He actually sees the board as an active historic archive.

I still refer people from facebook and other care sites, to the posts here that have working photos.

So, in other words... Not very active?

That's a shame as there aren't too many Subaru forums...

Could it be also due to the cars that were the main discussion fodder for this particular forum are all getting pretty old now? There are still plenty of Brumbies around for sure. Wagons, sedans and coupes though not so much. Think I've seen one other wagon like mine on the road in 10 years, in SA anyway. Saw an L series wagon on the road today, towing a cage trailer. Made me smile anyway

Maybe, but Impreza's and Foresters still exist in large numbers and are even still being made today...

I know AI is pretty advanced stuff Bantum, but can it or will it, ever replace the knowledge that we have gained (in our heads) over the years and all the little tricks of the trade so to speak?

I agree there's a load of knowledge on here that should be preserved, but will it be ? is the question ... ;/

Will be interesting to see if this site is still around in the future - not so sure ... :(

Cioa, Bantum ...

I'm guilty of not checking in very often.... yes, social media is 'where it's at'...

But it's not really: We need to drop reminders across social media groups to pop over here, keep it active.

100%

Im not officially on social media - I am guilty of using Mrs El_Freddo’s account. As much as I’d like to post sometimes (there are times posts on FB are a bit of a blood boiler!) I hold back as it’s not my account to do this with. I’m tempted to join again but that opens another can of worms for me that I do t want to.

The other thing is to post regularly when you’ve got something to share. This keeps new posts coming in to keep things moving on the forum.

My other issue is hosting pics. I think I’ve maxed out image shack as I reckon my old pics are being dropped when I upload new ones. Not cool!

If we could sort out how to host images on the forum and also capture the current images to keep them posted where they are that would be awesome. But I don’t know if it’s possible or affordable.

Cheers
