G'day,

I'm a new member to these forums, I just bought my Leone RX sedan a week ago and absolutly loving it! For the time being it it fairly stock with only a boost controller, rising rate pressure reg, mini cannon muffler and a pair of reground cams (all done by previous owner). But there is plenty I want to do with it, and from the looks of it this website is a wealth of informatin on doing just that.

Anyways look forward to learning more about this great car, heres some piccies!

Cheers
Steve

Welcome to the Forums Steve. I would be interested in some more info about your car too. It is a hard one to pick from the photos. No boot spoiler or stickers, no side spats and can't tell by the interior. If it is a factory turbo I would guess auto. If it is a conversion it is very well done.

OK how do you tell from these pics it is a 4 plug ecu ?

I notice it is not air con equiped. I also like the Mustang paint job of the engine bay - black.

aww, I want mine to get up and go..real soon

You can tell its a hotwire by the shape of the airflow meter. It will look different to your flapper style one.

I'm going to call it for a conversion. Rear gate has a 85 badge, whole front end is post 87. Painted engine bay means its all bean out at some stage.

Still, a good clean car!

OK, Gannon you got me on that one, thought it looked like mine. Maybe its an 85 bootlid. Just waiting for farmsci to tell a bit more

You can also see the boost control gear on the drivers side strut tower that isn't on 87 and earlier.

Gday all, thanks for the kind words, is an 87 model, i am told its a factory RX, is manual, is AWD. Engine has been out before and is so clean because it was rebuilt about a year ago (have all the recipts for parts and work with the car). The owner before me pulled off all the stickers hinting at what lies within for that extra sleeper appeal, this I can verify because the fellow I bought it from is a Subaru Master Technitian that I work with (I work at a Subaru Dealership) and I can remember when he first bought it. As for engine specifics, I am new to the EA82T and information on the net seems fairly scarce.

also discs on the rear, no power steering (not that it bothers me), did have air con, was removed at the same time as all the sound deadening was removed from the car. The previous owner wanted to run it in hill climbs but didn't have the money to keep funding two project cars, it just so happened I was looking for a fun lightweight car for exactly the same purposes, a few other things of note are things like an alarm from the MY06 WRX has been fitted (i.e. keypad)

Cheers
Steve

Factory 87 RX's had 'BROBE' in the VIN. The is a few abnomalies in that car that If I was looking for an original factory RX (I have owned 2 previously) I would pass on the one you have unless it had the BROBE in the VIN. Biggest giveaway though is the black/white check interior.

Not to cast aspersions on your car though.

Oh yeah, with a bit of work I reckon you'd get a Leone well under 1000kg in race trim...

I guess i'll run with conversion as the VIN contains CR0BE. But hey is neither here nor there to me, I'd like to see an EJ in there anyways. If it is a conversion they must have gone to incredible effort, dash cluster has turbo light n all and although it doesn't have that rather horrid (just my opinion) checked interior still has heavily bolstered seats (Cloth with viynl side trims) which I can't imagine would have been in the run of the mill L series.

having now been sparked to do a little reading through the stack of assorted paperwork that came with the car the engine number actually changed in May so I guess that confirms that. The RTA are happy with it and so am I so hoorah. Reading through recipts it also seems the flywheel has been lightened as well. It's a great driving car, the thing I love most is how quickly that little turbo builds boost, even if you crank it to 14psi it still brings on full boost by 2400rpm (or there abouts) and making useful boost well before that. I rarely ever feel the need to rev it past 4000rpm. Considering that it's replacing my good ole Subaru Fiori I spose it's not surprising that i'm enjoying it as much as I am!
