Just a thought Tristan, wouldn't it be better and cheaper in the long run to go straight to the ej instead of modifying the ea81?

Do the EA81 with the cam, with the weber you will notice the difference, especially when the secondarys open. You will use more fuel, just so that you can hear the revs rise with the cam.

I bought a motor off of here for $50.00 with the cam already in. Just stripped the whole thing down, new rings light hone, weber on top, marked improvement, not quite legal, but closer to being legal instead of an eJ

If you don't mind me asking what kind of average fuel economy do you get with the Cam and Weber? L/100KM?

Dwayne you can fit an EJ22, EJ20 or even and EJ20T to your ute and still have it legal. My ute with the turbo in it was legal and insured.

im curious, can u fit an ea82 into a brumby?- or is it different mounts etc and not much gain. or is it no gain at all, i dont know anything about ea81's

the ea82 has small amount of power gain but it will fit if the car is at standard height and the chassis rail may require slight trim

To fit an EA82 the chassis rails actually require MORE trimming than they do to fit a DOHC EJ engine (Ask Tim about this). Although Tim's wagon is lifted, that does make a difference.

At the end of the day the gains in going to an Carby EA82 over an EA81 are barely there, certainly not worth the trouble (again ask Tim about this!). Some people regard this as a downgrade in engines too!

Would be worth it to do an EA82turbo I suppose but I'd go an EJ20turbo. As Brett says you can have that legal no worries.

congrats mate, Just remember to watch the speedo, hate for you to lose your license early. Have you had your old man look at the damage yet?
