Sister's Car City! '89 Brumby

Post by T.Farm.Brumby » Thu Feb 13, 2014 9:43 pm

So this is the good news...

My sister finally came to her senses and bought a Subaru again!

An '88 built, '89 plated Maple Beige Brumby. In fantastic knick, almost perfect body work, very little rust, came with a canopy plus the chrome flashing for the tailgate

Pikchas.

There she is with the father's Brumby.
All for the princely sum of $1500.

A little back story as well. We got the 13" Sunnies from a bloke near us for $150 with good tread on them, set of 4 only though
had a leak on an alloy hose on the block but we patched and fixed that. I whacked a decent sound system in it for her and have started treating the rust around the base of the windscreen.

For those of you who've read my other threads, I've had some tear-jerking experiences with windscreen rust and this one is actually not too bad luckily :D

Also gave it a full service, replaced fuel cap, a headlight, a tail-light, flushed all the fluids, now we're just waiting on a sloppy shifter kit (thanks Andy) and a hood catch cable and she'll be all done and ready for a RWC.

Still have to paint the bullbar and refit it but thats no big issue.

Couldn't be happier :)

Cheers,
Tom and his sister.

Nice one Tom and Sis. Looks like it's in good nick.

As for your pics, you may want to resize (with paint or similar) them before posting them on your host site.

Cheers, but I've never resized them before and they've been fine :/

Nice score! The more Brumbies the better ;)

As for image size when you upload them to Imageshack use the "resize" dropdown box and select 640x480 or 600x800 I think are good sizes for forums. Although I've had problems with that site lately even after I select resize they come out full size. When uploading multiple images I've had some come out resized and some not  Good to use "preview thread" before you post to double check.
Will it ever end!?

Nice looking brumby mate! I bet your sister is stoked too.

Any plans or will this be kept stock as a daily runner?

Cruise control is a worth while addition ;)

Cheers

Well for now once it's roadworthied it'll be a daily, but she (and myself of course) wants to put a 2" lift and 27"s under it.

I think she should try to find a dual range 5sp out of an L series and an LSD as well to replace the clapped out old 4 speed and the open rear but she doesn't know much so she doesn't want to haha.

We got a sloppy shifter kit from Andy because literally EVERY gear feels like it's in neutral :'(

5 Speed is a must but wouldn't worry about LSD unless you find one at the right price :)

This was my plan anyway :)

I should also add that it has air-con :D Haven't tested it out yet but when the cars running there seems to be no leaks and as you change the settings you can hear it kicking in and the air flow gets stronger so it seems healthy :)

Today we finished the body work and will be painting around the windscreen tomorrow, also fit the sloppy shifter kit from Andy. The shifter is still pretty bad, but nowhere near like it was so that's a plus until we find a 5sp.

I have a 5sp FWD box in the Leone but I want to keep it 4x4 so that's no good to me. Anyone know of a 5sp dual range in good knick?

Cheers,
Tom.
