My 1992 gx wagon

Post by Josh.liberty » Sun Dec 02, 2012 5:10 pm

Hi guys relatively new to the Subaru scene. As of late when I go up hills I click into the power I get 3/4 of the way up the hill loose speed then engine cuts out. I can start the engine first time but engine is very *chuggy* for a few seconds I am thinking a fuel problem any ideas

There has been a few threads (issues) about loosing power.. can you tell us more - is it automatic or manual? Has it been regularly serviced?
Cheers

sounds like the fuel pressure regulator is stuffed.

Have you checked for codes by connecting the green plugs in the driver's kick panel? There's details on here how to do that in a sticky in one of the workshop sub forums.

Other things it could be - fuel pump not holding up but check the pressure regulator as already mentioned. Air idle control valve could be gummed up, this could affect the sluggish start you're experiencing.

It could also be a dodgy knock sensor - I've had to replace mine on Ruby Scoo with a few other sensors.

Check them out, there's a lot you can diagnose without spending money, you just need to learn what to checkout and your way around your ride ;)

Cheers
