2000 H6 Project.

Post by hydrowill » Tue Aug 07, 2012 6:18 pm

So on thurs I'm picking up my new H6 outback.

Hoping that I will end up with quite an offroad capable daily driver.

Mods:
Convert to manual, Forester D/R 5SP (Hopefully with a DCCD)
2'' Lift from my Liberty
Dual batteries
Radio
Stereo
HID Highbeam and spotties
215-70-16 BFG T/A KO's
Underbody protection (eventually)

Was going to continue building up my lib however couldn't resist a H6 at the right price. Have also picked up a wrecked manual O/B as a donor car :D

Will.

Nah no snorkel. Have the dual bat set up in the lib at the moment. Battery is in the back, fully enclosed cell bat.

Toms in hospital, I know he wanted $460.00 for the center diff ( no electronic controller ) located 6105 Perth, say $30.00 posted to you in vic .I would say make a respectable offer ( to me and I will get it to Tom )

The diff was removed from a JDM import box

Thanks for the help but it looks like I have one coming from W/A with controller and thumb wheel dilivered to Melbourne for under 450.

Picked up the wreck today, shame it is a statutory write off. Would have been a nice car for someone to re-build... if you like green.

Drove the H6 from Brissy to Melb over the last 24h or so, can already see the potential in the six cylinder :D

can I ask what you think this will cost you all up? PM me if you prefer.

I am in a similar situation to you in that I have an older lib, thinking about putting a newer engine in it but it just seems smarter to just buy a H6. you can't bean factory reliability..

Very keen to see how your build goes. Keep us posted.

PM sent.

Thats exactly right. The lib was just not the right car to be doing this to. With the motor change and suspension lift it would have become a highly modified car, impacting on insurance aswell. Also with VIC's p-plate laws I wouldn't be able to drive the lib if I put a H6 engine in. As a standard car it is leagal tho.

Stripped the wreck of almost everything but the wiring. Will have some bits and pieces up for sale soon including four green outback doors and hatch in very good condition.

Now almost have all the bits I need for the build :) just waiting on some time and space as Mum probably wouldn't appreciate bits of subaru through her house. Although there already are!

Should get round to putting some pics however nothing very exciting has happened yet.

Will.

Let me get this straight:

The final driver will be the H6 outback (factory auto).

The mods you'll do will be a manual conversion from a wrecked Liberty/outback?

Am I on the right track?

If so I'll tell you that the H6 manual is a potent animal - just ask Venom if you ever need a reference!

Cheers

Yes thats correct Bennie.

Still trying to decide what box to use :/ as the H6 uses 4.11 diffs with a massive overdrive in the auto.

The H6 cruises on 100km/h at like 2300 rpm! So guessing that long distance fuel consumption will go up like crazy with a manual box.

Delete the parts in blue like this....

<a href="http://s1077.photobucket.com/albums/w47 ... f99d68.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w47 ... f99d68.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

So it looks like this....

h+tp://i1077.photobucket.com/albums/w471/hydrowill/abf99d68.jpg

Then put Image%20at%20the%20start%20of%20it%20and%20[/img] at the end so it looks like this...

(I put a + in the http and a full stop at the end of [/img] just to make the text viable. You dont need to do this)

Or the easy way for photobucket is when your online or in the app. Find your picture and copy the "Img" code. Paste that into your text and away you go.
Always works for me.
