Brother for Scamp

Post by olddog642 » Mon Aug 09, 2010 12:03 pm

Well bugger me I’ve got to build another stable; Scamp has an older brother Scary.
Why he is called Scary, okay it all happened when he was seen languishing in a paddock under a tree looking very forlorn and neglected. On closer inspection his heart was not too good a bit noisy and no fluids mmm but all of his body seems sound just a little tired and jaded.
After much haggling and a bit of horse trading I secured him for the princely sum of 300 sheckels so without anymore to-do I loaded him on the float and transported him to a new residence and hopefully in the not too distant future restored to former glory.
So what better name than “Scary” for a 1985 unknown quantity purchased for 300 sheckels
That’s all for now folks will keep you posted on the progress of Scamp and Scary

G’day,
Thanks for all the great comments. Yes it is pure arsey luck when it comes to finding a good purchase.
As for what I propose to do with Scary; well depending on what I find after I have had a good and close inspection, which will be shortly after getting the stable built for him. The general idea at this stage is to keep it simple and close to original including preserving the side decals.
Scamp his younger sibling is almost ready for the road; I got the carby back from being rebuilt so that’s got to be put back on. Then the rego inspection, which knowing those people they will find something else for me to get done before it passes, of course a couple more pension payments are going to be the order of the day first eheheh.
Okay that’s about it for now I’ll post progress pics as they come to hand
Best regards
Hylton

More bits

Post by olddog642 » Tue Nov 02, 2010 11:38 pm

Well just an update on Scamp, I have finished fitting the storage box behind the seats, plus installed a small tacho on the weekend and today my new auxillary fan arrived so will be fitting that in the near future its a slim line 6 blade high flow fan and moves over 1950 CFM of air.
Scamp is running good but will be replacing all the suspension bushes and shocks as soon as I save a bit more moola.

Good to see you got a fan. New, or preloved? You get it off ebay? subi wrecker?

Have you found any wiring to power it? Given yours is same as mine must be able to send you a pic of its power source wires and connector.

Nice fan, what's the thickness etc, I'm looking at putting one under my bonnet vent to keep the intercooler & under bonnet temps lower.

Hi Jonno,
not sure what way I'm going to wire up the fan, by the look of it I have two options
1/ use the wiring that connects to the A/C switch on the dash
and control it manually

2/ tap into the sensor wiring that the current fan uses and have it
automatically switched.

the fan motor draws about 7 amps so????
