Email that video clip so as not to reach youtube Currant Affair status :D

Wondering too, if that plastic filter will suck its chops in,maybe a metal filter of 1/2" ??

At the time, I couldnt get a 1/2 inch filter, but the restriction issue did cross my mind.

As for a video, I'll just state that it was taken on a private road, or I simply wont exceed the speed limit

not meaning to completely change the thread or anything, but would having a filter pre-pump actually cause any issues?

I kept the l series one (new filter, but old position) when i did the EJ on my L series, more based on what was there than any particular decision that i needed one. so i have filter, then fuel pump, then 2nd filter (ej filter) near the motor. any chance that could cause issues? i guess the best way to find out is to rip it out and try
(it doesn't feel slow at all, but being the only ej 22 L i have been in, i dont have much to compare it to)

Awesome project you have going on there Gannon  cant help but think "i want" :D
cant wait to see it on the road!

Here is a video we took tonight
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIkeH3uZis0

As you can see we used a torch to watch the boost gauge because I haven't rigged up the light

Yeah I know it was a quick video, but I just wanted to see if my wheel alignment worked and couldnt help bringing on the boost.

Speaking of, it appears that it was pulling between 8 and 12psi, but factory boost pressure is 11psi. My boost line restrictor might be too small 0.9mm and not letting enough bleed air out.

But other things take priority. My PS tank is leaking somehow so that will have to be fixed as will the reverse lights and my radiator fans

Snagged myself an L series digital radio for $15
Image

Interestingly, it has a 13pin din socket in the rear the exact same as the Clarion in my Outback does that is used an an aux input and allows me to hook up an MP3 player and play through the speakers
Image

I just need some speakers for the doors now

I'm heading out tomorrow to fit the spats, the radio and take some better measurements of the height. I might even pick up some WRX front struts and whack in the front

So my car is taking a different direction, going back to an EA82T but with a Wolf3D ECU.
Im keeping the AWD lib gearbox but might put the internals into an L series case
********* kit Im unsure yet. I'd like to use the L series koni adjustable struts and 14" "rally hart" alloys, but on the other hand, lib brakes are bigger and a have a larger selection of wheels

Decisions decisions decisions

3 Kids, bought another house.

Getting it registered in its current setup is too much of a hurdle at the moment, so standard engine is the easiest way to get it on the road

Gannon, good to see you back here. My Brumby is back up and running, thanks again for your help with the wiring hurdles.

If you make the call to go 5-stud, I am working on rear hubs that are superior to the Cr0ssbr3d option. Also have a rebuilt (new seals, painted and ready to install) set of WRX front calipers spare at the moment.

Interested to see how you with the wolf. I've got to do some serious searching to solve the check engine light issue on mine, so might ditch the factory wiring. But it's going to be a pain with the 4eat behind it...
I was originally trying to keep "original" period mods with the exception of lib rs water-air intercooler, but have decided to go ej brakes.

Little update

No longer running the Wolf3d because it requires a hardware serial port, which none of my computers
have, and a add on USB serial adapter was only sorta working.

So Ive gone to Speeduino, which runs same software as Megasquirt but is designed around the
Arduino Mega controller.
It has 4 high impedance injector outputs, 4 coil outputs plus boost, idle, fuel pump and fan
relay outputs.

Speeduino ECU with EJ20G ecu header

Image

Now because it wont drive low impedance injectors, I had to source hi impedance injectors
from an series 2 RX7. I just have to lathe off a bit of that nipple so 8mm fuel hose will slip
over the end.
440cc RX7 injector

Image

I found a neat place to mount the Ford/Mazda coil pack, right on top of the EA82 optical dizzy.
Coilpack will be run in wasted spark configuration from 2 of the ECU's coil outputs

Image

24+1 optical wheel inside EA82 optical distributor. Much easier for the ECU to decode than
the standard 360+4+6+8+12 or whatever it is

Image

While its easy to work on, I ditched the VF2 for a TD04L
Kinda wondering if I should build a set of proper header pipes like these
Image

VF2 beside the TD04

Image

Intake and intercooler plumbing almost done

Image

I know it sounds backwards, but I've pulled out the Liberty front brakes and gone
back to L series discs and hubs so I can run these wheels to keep it as original as I can.

Image

Im not sure if Im happy with my decision yet.
If I could find some EJ wheels like these I may go back (havent got around to swapping the rears yet)

Thats all for now
