the factory intake pulls from the very top of the inside of the front guard. As long as you have an inner guard in place its about as good as you can do dust / water wise.

the factory water trap also works well.

Benny - Yea I don't like the term flex either, couldn't think of another word at the time!

Vincentvega - I would put the factory intake back on, but unfortunately a mate ripped into the piping to use on his project car.
Does anyone have pics of a snorkel on a lib? :)

Captain Obvious - It doesn't even make any noise on mine haha.

BAM!
I've pulled my finger out and bought some rubber..
Fitted them today and took them for a spin and they surprised me how well they travel (used to road tyres haha :))

They're 215/75/15s BFGoodrich muddies (and they fit! :D)
They do scrub on full lock which I expected.
For the rears to fit, we needed to tap in the fold of tin, at the front of the wheel.

For anyone interested in what I've done so far to fit these tyres.
I have outback shocks with std kings to suit,
outback trailing arm brackets and 15" forrester rims. And am very comfortable with how well they fit, they scrub slightly at the moment, but can only get better with some massaging of the body.

I'm not even thinking of a body lift at the moment, but we'll see what happens..

That looks awesome Bumpty!

How far out is your speedo now? Although I think your lib has a speed sensor so it wouldn't be too hard to correct it from what I understand...

Keep up the good work! I'm also a little jealous...

Cheers

I've got no idea Freddo!
I just sit 5-10ks under the limit haha :)

I have to get used to driving them too.
Much different to little 15" imprezza rims with low profile tyres!

AP - @ 100ks, revs are at 2500 give or take 200. They like rolling down hills alot ;)

Hehehe... I could imagine!

Were the tyres expensive? This will be a serious 'ouch' for me when I dish out for a set myself - at least after I wear out a set of sherpas that I was given... I just don't have the lift to fit them under the L yet :( It'll get there...

They were $260 each! Thats a bargain.. kiddding :)
I think they are good investment, as the lib just lives at home on the farm where I work. It was becoming useless to drive anywhere with all the rain we've been having.

Yes, if anything is next, it will be a lift kit. :)
I was in the motion of making my own, but where is the time to do that!?
So instead of needing the time to build one, I just need to save a bit more to buy one haha

NICE! I reckon the modded libs look shit hot, they just look so sad and saggy with old shockies and springs, draggin their arse all over the place. Those muddies look S-W-E-E-T!!!

I've got almost everything sitting in my garage except the lift and trailing arm mounts, which is coming once dave is well enough to get around to my order... Seeing your lib makes me want it bad man, but i've only just got the engine running and now its the gf that needs the tlc, not the car :P

Did you end up finding out what the 'check engine' light was coming on for?

To the other lib modders out there, what's this about brake lines? This's the first I've read about it... tell me more!

Hey bennie, I scored my 4x bfg ats on foz alloys for $125/set second hand from a tyre joint in dandenong, near new and he chucked in a desert duller and steel rim for free as spare! $600 for the lot! Can't remember the name, let me know when you're looking for tyres and I'll see if i can dig the number out, they had heaps of fourbie tyres at the time, not sure now as that was back in march...

Sorry for the hijake Bumpty, you've got a super sweet ride there dude!

That's what I'm starting to think! I'm so close to a lifted L its not funny... The big thing holding me back is that I want to get it engineered, gotta make some enquires.

I know how you feel Owen! My GF is the same, but Ruby Scoo still requires some work to complete her as a daily driver that I don't have to worry about finishing off bits and pieces - cos we all know how that usually ends up!

No worries and thanks for the info - much appreciated. I do have 4 tyres waiting to go on - 26 inch sherpa's, apparently they were really good offroad but have been discontinued now. They have a realatively aggressive looking tread pattern and are prob 4 - 5 inches wide. Can't wait to get them out there, but would ultimately like a set of 27 inch roadies to keep the offroads in good condition ;)

End hyjack Bumty - I guess we should take this to my thread about Ruby Scoo
