BR, ill try see if its seamless, Should be (one would hope.)
im not too keen on the 5 studs hey. 1: too dear,2: not compatible with the rest of my 'Fleet', 3: too dear. im going to get 4WD 15' rims and drill 2 extra holes. that orghts do it, insted of fitting extra studs.

im trying to get the motor running, head out on the highway.
so ill try get this ugly ass harness working or else im going to get another, cut it up myself and SOLDER things instead of using busted ass crimps. and cutoff unnessecary stuff, instead of leaving crap 'hanging' around

i aslo tydied up the shifter setup, and fixed the wiring inside, aswell as making it glow blue.

On an EJ engine you need the ENTIRE engine loom for it to run - nothing's spare.

Holy crap thats a mess!

Mate - sometimes someone elses half assed efforts take more time to fix than starting from scratch. I just hope you got some good bits in there and it is only they way they have been "cobbled" together that is dodgy as all hell.

If you have a good engine/trans/rollcage/suspension then you will be fine the rest is just heaps of work - if you built your datto you mentioned then you will know what I am talking about.

All the best man, make a budget, double it for the true cost and half it for the number of man hours required for the build - lol

cheers mate. yesah, when she rocked up (on a truck) i was 'dissapointed' (words cant really describe the feeling.) and yes i had all intentions of building it from the ground up from a stocko. As this car is going to be my 'dream car', i want it Right.but... i saw this and my logic went a bit like this.... Stocko>$2-3K straight up
This one> Roll cage, log booked, susp, 2.2, 4.11 Lsd, 14's, sunroof (although i wanted a T-Top) colour. $3400 i paid which was probly $500 too much IMO. but oh wells. smal change in the long run.

Budget> SFA. (i shop at Mitre 11 alot)
but so far> paint and brushes ect, $80
wire brushes $20
Battery box $50
Seats $400
Thermos $60
Fuel hose $30

thats about all sofar. most of my consumables dont cost me, and my times cheap (at least to me) coz i love working on it. When shes up and running im getting number plates made >BSB 83< bsb is for Blood, Sweat and Beers. this is only TOO true. it came off the jack and onto my hand in Jan, when i was taking the balljoint out. didnt break it, but i was getting ready to Knaw it off.lol (so far the only good thing about working in the dirt.)

enough of me life story then.

And with the Datto, i bought it too RTR, $2k so cheap IMO. but again got a decent dose of dodgey. why i swore i would build my next one. But oh wells
I am Building it. coz there isnt a part left untouched when im done.
Cheers, Rohan M.

Hows the rewiring going? You should get another harness and get your self a wiring diagram, sit down with a couple of hot/cold ones and work out the engine wiring by its self, unpick the loom and condense it by a third.
I was looking at the Beast when it was on ebay, didnt notice those strut tops in the photos! Bastards...........

yea. happens. rewirings good, done a really good job of it. cut about 8 feet out of it, tidied up the earths (has anyone seen that setup, WTF) and powers ect. cut all wires down so they just reach and wired it all thru the bung that was there. its ALL soldered and heatshrinked and has no crimps. wrapped it all in spiral wrap too. Pretty good for a Fitter. im happy with it now anyways.
i have no fuel tank in ATM and have the TCU and wiring out for it, just trying to get my head around that. its a bit harder for me to gather whats neccesary and not. but yea. she didnt start when i got her, so it cant be any worse than that hey. ill post pics eventually.
was going to get a new harness, but think it should be good.

the only thing is it has NO O2 sensor?? anyone?
Cheers, Rohan M.

Probably not neccessary for racing. It should default to running rich all the time which I reckon is good.

What was done with the fuel supply? Does it have a surge canister, filled by a low pressure pump, or an EFI pump straight out of the main tank?

What are you doing for the airfilter?

the fuel situation is standard steel line from tank to the pump area, thru a cheap plastic filter. i have a Bosch pump ( unsure exactly what kind, but like a VL Turbo) big round sukka. then thru the rear wall in 8mm hose, into 8mm seamless steel piping and out to the engine. it has no efi filter at present, im ordering it today. also return line goes through the original feed, and into a Tee i made to fit the breather(?) pipe that goes from the tank to the top of the filler.
what do you reckon?
this is temporary because im going get a tank made up eventually.

air filter will be KnN Inverted pod with the large flat top. coz i have it already on the datto. unsure whether to leave the induction pipe or have it come straight out the TB,Maf then filter inside the wheel well. havent decided yet.

Use the standard return or breather as long as you change the rubber hosing to EFI. The standard metal pipe is fine.I take it the standard filter goes on the low pressure feed side to pump. You should look at fitting a surge tank. Use the standard carby pump to feed the surge then take the fuel for the high pressure pump. This wil stop sucking air when cornering whilst having low fuel. I dont mean to be rude but this car looks like a carpenter used to own it!!

yea, i know. i got all the 'spares' threw it all in the tray of my other ute as it is mostly crap. did find a gbox mount. so replaced the welded solid one. shes a bit of a heap currently. can see why it was forsale for a while. anyone who looked overit (myself included) would have RUN> but anyways too late for that now. shes comming along.
? will the little puttputt pump be up to the task? im not too sure. i think it should be right as is? till i get it going at least. then ill improve it.

HELLO Again. WOW> ok ive got something to write about again. interesting times.

i havent been internetting for A fair while coz my life has been going flatout and outta control for a while there. luving it.

and spent sh!tloads of time with the grinders and the beers stripping the BITCHumen off the interior floor. (NO FUN!!!! aviod doing this at ALL costs.) im serious. took me 2 months, 2 grinders and around 4 wire brushes. and you will find all the wires that flick out, in your feet, clothes, arse and balls. not nice. plus all the black sh!t thats coming off gets into every thing, and trys to stick back onto everything. i believe it will never truely be gone. grrr.

HOWEVER> you do learn a few things, have hours to think, and it comes up good after.

so i did that, painted it silver inside, fitted the seats, shifter, handbrake and made a 'splash' panel arount the fuel area. looking ok.

got under the bonnet to put a hose clamp on the otherday, and spent around 2 weeks of late afternoons (read 2AM) looking and fidling with stuff. its looking good now, practical, and neat. still a bit to do, but its ready to pull the engine out now. funny that, get it going well then RIP IT OUT. hahaha.

on the topic of ripping stuff out, the longest peices of factory wiring in it now hangs out of the ignition to the pink clip so im happy about that. i LOVE the sound of wiring harnesses hitting the dirt. its music to my ears. not joking. i love it. hahaha.

so ive been making wiring and whatnot, only the best gear. big, tinned copper wiring, solder, heatshrink and spiral wrap. takes a fair bit longer to make up than the split tubing crap, but the results are Well worth it. headlights. indicators and parkers. thermos. brakes. reverse. spotlights. got most of this run to the steering colum. im unsure of how to hook it to the dashboard and the few lights i want in the dash. i think (so far as i can 'read' the chipboard, it has a common P+. how can i make it go with my wiring (common E-, with a single P+ heading to the lights.))

if anyone can spare some insight and save me some time (and beer) figuring it out ill be thankfull.

wired the alternator good and strong. chasing a HO alternator if ones around.

fuel systems back in, sterile and clean. no more stinking yellow urine stuff anymore. got EFI filter and hoses in the bay hooked up. snipped off the excess pipes on the fuel rail.

done heaps anyways. didnt have a camera handy at all during it all, so theres no records of how its all done ;) secrets i spose. hahaha

catchyaz> Rohan.
Cheers, Rohan M.
