After saying I wasn't, I picked me up some 13s sunraysias today.. would hve liked 14s but i took what i was given. just gotta spray em up a gloss white with some 2pac i got left over. didn't come with centre caps. I heard you cant use the original centre caps from the steelies is that right? might just have to silicone them on unless someone else has better idea?
Cheers

This is just the nicest damn thing I have ever seen. Wow.

Love that colour and sun visor. I might be biased.

I remember (as will a few others I suspect) when this model rolled off the showroom floor :)

Those photos take me back to my youth at the beach.

Keep it as original as you can as one day it may be the only MY touring wagon left on the planet

For the centre caps to fit you just need the plastic rings to go in the centre hole. Shouldn't be too hard to get a hold of some. Otherwise you can bend the steel tabs around & it makes them stay in there.

^ That's what I was going to say about the centre caps.

What they don't fit on is the 14 inch rims - the desert rats or the speedies, I don't know the difference between the two any more.

Cheers

Yepp just bent the tabs back and shes a snug fit now. cheers guys.......have added a few pics of the new wheels and tyres. Extremely happy with the look. The engine rebuild is coming very soon. nothing to extreme just pulling the engine out and changing all gaskets including head. machined etc. and the carby will need attention. something to do with the jets. all hoses and whatever problems I come across at the time. only done 140 ks so shouldn't be too much surprises.;)

It even has the spring loaded cargo cover in the back! This has to be the perfect example of a touring wagon.

lol was quite impressed with the cargo tarp myself. i sit and look at this everyday and still cant belive the nik its in. On another topic has anyone got a rough idea on what shops are charging to get my heads machined? and can recommend anyone in adelaide. my mates a mechanic that will be helping with the "MINOR" rebuild and says he knows someone but wouldn't mind other opinions seeing as a lot of youse guys have done heads.

A Very Very nice car, I'm Very jealous, but good on you for picking it up. I'm in Adelaide as well, and have 3 MY touring wagons ( 1 wreck and 2 that can go, but only 1 regoed ATM ) 2 brumbys ( 1 going and one about to be) but none in that condition.

Again well done.

If you are North, Steve at rising sun ( gepps cross) is a subaru guru who is good with advice.

cheers

I got some EA81 heads done at Lonsdale Engine works, they were machined and vacuum tested for about $200. Dunno where you live, Lonsdale is a long way to go if you live up north.

Alternatively (if you don't mind spending the money) want to hand your engine over to someone and pick it up completed, drop it off to Steve at Rising Sun and you'll get a brand new looking engine back at the end. I had an engine done there that got new pistons, bores machined, bearings ground oversize, re-faced lifters everything you'd expect in a full rebuild for $2200. He's up at Gepps cross. You might not be looking to spend that much, but think of your factory-condition car with a brand new engine ;)

I'm down south silver bullet so Lonsdale would be easy only 5 mins from there. My best mates a good mechanic so I will be able to save a good amount with me and him doing the work... But that's exactly why I'm doing this... New engine with awesome body.. Can't wait for it to be done and get some good use out of it especially with summer coming. Might not be able to help myself with some extra non factory engine mods but see what happens. :)... Cheers for the help guys and hope to see youse out and about.

Wow, never seen a cargo cover in one of these - I'm not certain that I even knew they were available on the MY's!

That's a very nice score - on top of the awesome example to start with!

Cheers
