Brumby - WRX

Hey Guys, have a 1986 twin headlight targa top brumby with 1994 WRX EJ20 Turbo and WRX dash fitted

. Heaps of thanks to the site for providing information / advice on the conversion allowing me to complete the work.

awesome. I so want a brumby with a wrx dash!

what was involved in getting the dash to fit? Do you have any pictures?

Fair bit of time, sacrifice to heating, air conditioning and glovebox. The WRX dash is wider and physically deeper so lots of chopping to get it in. Made an aluminium bracket to mount dash against the firewall and some extra supports on either side.

The Dash image shows in red where about chopping was required.

Still needs some tidying up, boost guage fits nicely where the AC / Heater control once was.

nicely wedged in there its a pity Subaru didn't do something like that for the later brumbys and the motor looks like it should be in there

Is that the brumby radiator squashed in the fit or a wrx one?

One difference though - 85wrx cut up the fire wall to fit all the WRX aircon/heating hardware... I think he achieved this.

I too would like a WRX converted Brumby but its just a dream, I'm having enough fun with my L

Radiator is the brumby original with modified inlets, not much room. Some more pictures.

Looking good! Will you keep those rims? They seem to hide in the guard a little I reckon - but thats just my taste in rims

With the top mount air to air you need a scoop - looks like brute needs to add one or swap it for a water to air intercooler (WAIC) as the WAIC doesn't need a bonnet scoop, just a radiator mounted out front with some pipe work and a pump

there should be a new rule passed

whenever someone does a conversion that others want
when cutting adding or changing thinges (dash gears and the like)

\ the doer should have to do a coppy so others can coppy that

Used Crossbred kit for the stud conversion.

For the intercooler im keeping it as is for stealthyness, thinking to add blower / fan to suck fresh air through it which should be efficient.

Can consider sale of car aswell, if anyone interested let me know.

as suggested above, get yourself a Liberty RS water to air intercooler.
then you'll have stealth and an effecitive 'cooler.

Planning to take the car to Willow Bank for a test n tune day for a run down the 1/4 mile strip sometime soon. Running stock 93' EJ20T Jap import motor with pod filter and 3 inch exhaust from Cat back, interesting to see what times she pulls..
