new tyres

Post by Vortex75 » Sun Feb 22, 2015 6:33 pm

Hey guys, I think I may have asked this before but I cant find the post. I've got to get tyres for my Vortex and I'm wondering how wide of a tyre I can fit on my 13" 5j rims?

I think 185 is probably as wide as you would comfortably want to go. 195 would be fit-able but I think is outside the recommended range (your tyre guys will fit them, but won't warranty them).

That said, why not take the opportunity to upgrade to 14" x 5.5 rims - you will be able to go a bit wider but more importantly the handling should be night-and-day better. On my Brumby the move from 13" to 14" was a quantum leap, and when I briefly ran some redrilled 15" rims it was better again - like "running on rails" good.
1989 Brumby - Shiny new red paint, stroked EJ20 phase 2 SOHC with Darton sleeves bored to EJ22, Wiseco high-compression pistons, Delta 2000 grind cams , EJ/XT6 5 stud with WRX 4/2 pots, 5-speed, 86 GTS seats and so much more.
