Recommended Tire Pressures?

Hi all,
quick question on tire pressures; what's recommended for an 06 Outback?
The local dealer seems to think that 45 PSI (!) is good, but the card by the driver's door says 29 front, 30-31 rear.

I dropped the pressure to 30'ish, after nearly losing my fillings on the first dirt road @ 45 PSI :)

What have other peoples experiences been?

What it says in the door mate (that's why it's there)
45 is good on fuel but not good for tyre wear

+1 for what Frog (Andy) said.. best to follow what the door card but also check in the owners manual. Another thing to check is that the tyres are the same rating as what's in the owners manual, i.e. 205/70R16 95S, as sometimes people put the cheapest tyres on and forget they don't meet the manufactures requirements.

I put 40psi in my Outback - it's a little different to most on here thou.
I don't get "excessive" tyre wear either - just get your toe set to 0.00 all round and you'll be sweet.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies.

For the record, my Outback has 215/60R16 99H tyres. Couldn't see anything in the owners manual that specified a tyre type, but I'll keep digging

Tyre card on the door jam should tell you the tyre size and type and the owners manual should show you the tyre pressures with different loads inside in the car or when towing.

32 psi on the blacktop, that comes from 7 years of tyre fitting, including 3 as a manager in roxby downs.
