What tyres for your Liberty

I want to know your opinion on the size and make of tyres for a gen 1 liberty lifted with ob struts and 15" rims . Must be minimum all terrain more aggressive the better
I need to get some soon i want to see what you have thanks

Goodyear MTR if they are made in a size suiteable. I don't think they are though :(

What you really want to make sure of, is that it is a light truck construction. Size is personal thing I think, but if you're after an opinion I wouldn't go over a 28.

I reckon you should get some mudders Jan. I wouldn't recommend mud tyres to many subaru people but you use yours more than most.

wrangler MTR doesnt come in a useful size for you unfortunately. Might have to look at other brands.

I have had an awesome run from my wrangler ATRs (still havnt got a single puncture) but they probably arent agressive enough for you. You can get those in 27" (205/75R15) or 28" (215/75R15). I run the 27's

I'm in need for some new shoes too!

I'm not after what brands are best, as such, but just wanting to know how big I can comfortably go..

The car is a Gen1 wagon with OB struts/std springs to suit but doesn't have OB trailing arms. The rear wheels sit an inch, inch 1/2 from guards.

On it at the moment is standard Forrester rubber, (Geolanders) and they are 215/60/16. I don't think I should go any taller without the OB trailing arms, but how wide could I safely go? And/or should I go taller, just see what they say at the tyre shop...

ALL opinions welcomed :D

*And a side(wall) note, Geolanders as a brand are horrible on the sidewalls. I've had two punctures with them and am surprised I haven't had more. As the sidewalls have countless scares where its showing a white under skin.*

I used to have the Hankooks on my Liberty when I first lifted it (the white RS) then I fitted them to the orange wagon. Not a bad tyre at all. I wouldn't go any bigger than them with the set up you have. The 29's I had on the orange car were better but they would drain too much power from your car.

What were these Hankooks (size). I've just been into my local and they couldn't find anything for my size, well nothing that was aggressive enough for me. Apparently its just the common, falcon/commodore size, so no one makes anything past a road tyre with maybe some light 'sand pattern'

They suggested going for a smaller rim (yes they even specified a 15" Forester rim!)
So I guess I have to rid of my beautiful 16" for some 15" rims. Anyone have any, swapsies :D

I've found this tyre (Bridgestone D693)

And the size I'd be looking at is, 215/65/16C.
So I'm just wondering how much taller would this be to the 215/60/16 (geolander) and also what does the 'C' represent on the end of 215/65/16C, haha!

I know the Bridgestones should defiantly fit, if I had O/B trailing arms fitted. But without them, I'm not too sure. . .
So options are as I see at the moment,
I could go with these tyres on my 16"s & buy (NEW from subaru) trailing arms
OR
Buy a set of 15"s and look at the abundance of options they have on offer.

Hey Will, I tried to get a set of those for my car before the desert trip last year but was told they werent available in Australia yet, then spotted these on a Triton at the Telegraph Station in Alice spings. :???: anyway, happy I got the Nankang Wide Conquerors in the end, no punctures , no tread chips and look as new as they were the day we left, and only $125 bucks each.

Bumpty,

i have the D693 and vincent said on my wagon, ob stuts and lifted springs front and rear, these are my second set of these and i am pretty happy with them, for road use they ar quiet adn hold on well and for the offroad i do which is beach, a little bit of bush they are great, they are ok in the mud but they are no mud tyre!!

the reason i run them is the size, it os had to find a 215/65/16 in a offroad style tyre on of others i found was a geolander at but i didnt like the reports it got about them (too soft). and that size works out to be around the 27'' which is about the biggest i would go in a lib with 3.9 gearing and standard low range!!

btw did 8257km on the trip last year and about 1500km on the dirt and did have and issues with them at all!!!

the only this i didnt like about the was the price!!!!!! be sitting down when you get one, is it is only because of the uncommon sizing.

ps. i havent got ob trailing arms on mine and they tyres clear but about 10mm, i did give the lip i little touch up with a hammer one day to make a little more.

..$255 it costs for a D693, here.................. I'm not going to even contemplate them :)
Instead, I've found a set of 15" Steel Forester rims. The tyre bloke said he has a couple of mates who rally. So I'm going to have a look at some 'seconds' for a $100 a pop. Hopefully the rally tyres will look the goods, if not it should be easier to find something that does with the 15" rims, then the 16".

If you don't mind Bryan, could you tell me what your D693s costed about?
