Lancellin to Wedge island Track

Post by 95Liberty » Thu Nov 25, 2010 11:56 pm

I heard that the Lancellin to Wedge track has been closed permanently.
Its a shame because Iv never driven on it before and was going to do a trip up there when I get my car fixed.

I guess now because the road goes through to Cervantes then it's no longer needed. I hope the track to narrow neck is still open.. so you can still take the beach?

truth be told if it is like the "closed" tracks down this way it won't be long before some one makes a new entrance and exit and the track will be open again

its all closed off via the inland tracks. Theyre policing it very heavily and youll get in alot of trouble if caught in there as they use it for navy training/bombing practice(get done for terrorism charges or sumthing hahaah

Technically they can block off the beach as well, although i dont think they will.

Id just take the new road way in now.

theres alot of info here...

last post in the thread on Perth4x4.
....they have marked out the boundaries along the beach with brand new signage stipuilating bombing area. You can still go along the track from Lancelin before the bombing range and you can still drive along the beach...
so the beach drive is still open

They've been closing that area for years because of bombing, must be permanent now.

correct, they use to just close it during training.

got balls taking the beach from lanno tho. The stretch at narrowneck is pretty treacherous at the best of times.

id just take the main road in from now on...got pretty tempted to take my liberty up there during the weekend haha.

ill be back on the 28th and then ill be keen after that for a weekender.

btw on the weekend we discovered the beach is still open, the hwy is the best way, but the track through the base is strictly closed and is heavily policed atm.
