I think the accusation was
" that's not a push rod 1600 in there "

Fuji me dear readers.... this did not sound anything like 'just' an EJ once above about 1500 rpm - close your eyes and hear an early WRX parrrping along - flippin' awesome mod.

Hearing and seeing was believing !! Nearly giggled self to lightheaded excitement when i heard it.

Mister Fisya is taking orders ....

Interesting character that one........

I'm interseted to hear what the short stroke 1600 will sound like with UEL headers in my 1600 coupe, when I had the same muffler and stock headers on the 1600 it sounded like a 2 stroke Detroit diesl LOL.

I've also been trying to figure out how to do UEL headers on the 1400 coupe with the duel port exhausts...........

You trying to figure out...I been trying to figure out how you got 100kph in 2nd gear of a L Series 5 speed behind that EA81...whatever combo, EA81 or 82 , 4 speed or 5, I can still only manage a fanging 80 , a true 80 kph in second. Now, i spied 185.75? 13's . they'll tell lies at the speedo end ......

Speedo is pretty much spot on. It's actually a MY GLF 5 speed box, not sure if ratios are different. I'm curios what the revs are as I don't have a tachometer but, its absolutely reving it's tits off, my dad was shaking his head on the way down to Subinats every time I did it LOL.

And come to think of it, with the bigger tyres it would be actually be going faster than the speedo reading.......

yeah, just recalled my own experience 205.60.13 instead of 165.78.13, gave me 10% false sense of security :(

I keep thinking every Sube has a tailshaft, slap me if I go looking for another under your fleet :p

Crikey! 100 in 2nd! Pretty sure the latest model wrx can't even pull that off. Thinking about it my ea81 would have to be revving at around 6.5-7k.

That pipe looks sweet mate. People tell me mine sounds like a tractor .

Regards

Doug

100 in 2nd eh, quite a feat ;) With the Weber and upsized exhaust my ute can only just get to 80 in 2nd before I lose my nerve :p

Only 100 in second that 71 coupe only weighs 500kg wet ;) you should be able to get 100km/h out of first . my awd EJ 22 brumby gets 100km/h out of second :) and I would say it weighs closer to 1300kg.

:)

Yeah me either, it should be under one of the settings when you upload the video. Something like "set this video as Public, Private" etc...Should be able to edit the settings still.

Just been watching the first post, page four.

My compliments, or should I say condolences to your brave cameramans family - hardly flinched when you ran over him! That sounds pretty wicked. Sounds like a reason to visit a patient exhaust bender.

As for your valve springs at was it 105kphour ? in second gear...

is it a 5 speed from an EA81 or EA82 model ? And ratio difference from fourWD boxes, do you know?

thanks for going to the effort :)

:p :p If I didn't see the normal looking EA81, hitachi and your pipes just yesterday, don't think I'd believe it was just an EA81. It sounds to have the sort of performance the famed twin carb, twin port EA81S is rumoured to have !! It is breathing and fueling pretty OK isn't it !

Gonna say some heavy duty Lanotec is in order for your clutch pedal :)

It's amazing what a good tune and a kit through a Hitachi (IMO Webbers are good if you don't want to rebuild your Hitachi) and a non restrictive exhaust makes. If I had tuned length headers it'd probably go a bit better but sound crap.
I cant wait to get my hands on some twin carbs.........anyone got a set they want to sell me? I'd buy the SPFI setup of Tweety but I'd need a manifold.
Also buy some dual port heads from Italy but for the price of them I could buy a GSR.

Thats a great sound you have got there.

I take it the speedo video was done "under controled conditions on closed roads" :)
