hi
does it cost much to fix an exhaust leak near the catalytic converter?

could this be fixed by ones self?

You can - but I'd replace the whole Y unit before the cat because there will be another crack coming soon.

Depends where the crack is. If it's in the pipework, then like AP mentioned, just replace the whole Y piece. If it's at the flex joint, it might just need a new gasket
