Header/Extractor for Non Turbo

Post by Subyroo » Thu Oct 30, 2008 9:44 pm

Has anybody fitted a set of the pipes?

They are being sold by a guy on another Subaru Forum and judging by the photo do you think they would be worth the money?
Header/extractor Non Turbo
This header is suitable for non-turbo 95-2005/6 models EJ20,EJ22,&EJ25 Impreza, Liberty (except Gen2 DOHC motors), Forester & Outback models (please double check and do your research). I have a brand new one in the box complete with gaskets and bolts. I am in Melbourne - West Footscray. (I am willing to organize & post them). I have one fitted to my RX 2001 Liberty. So if you are interested you are more than welcome to come and hear my car and see before you buy. I put mine on 12 months ago and the car feels more responsive (less restricted) and the boxer note is finally there. They are the Borla replicas.

Spec's are as follows :

- Uneven headers so they produce the boxer (burble) note
- Direct Bolt on complete with gaskets and bolts
- Fully polished T304 stainless steel Mandrel bends,
- T.I.G weld and 1.5mm thick tubing the OE ones are appox. 1.2mm thick.
- Size 2.5''and 1.5'' tubular piping high quality finish

They are definitely an upgrade to the OE restrictive header. Sell Price $350 delivery incl. to most states (provide post code to confirm). Feel free to send me a private message by clicking (Private message) on the top right hand corner of the page.
Cheers

Can't see the pictures (at work, they block pictures.....), but assume they are the Borla replica's?

I've got a set on my 02 Outback, mine fitted perfectly, bolted straight up to the O.E cat section, abit more rumble/burble now, and had them on for nearly 2 years.
I also heat wrapped mine, as without it they did sound abit tinny, and also to protect plastic/rubber parts (see below).
I've also melted 1 of my steering rack boots due to them being fairly close, not completley melted, but about 1/3 of it on the underside.
Some people get them HPC coated too, but is $200 or so.

I think they where/are worth it.

If you are going to get them and fit them yourself (its easy, 6 nuts and 2 bolts), spray the sh!t out of the head's exhaust nuts and studs, and the cat/inter pipe nuts and bolts with WD40, Rost Off etc everyday for a few days before you do.
Also, get new O.E gaskets, the ones that come with them are pretty crap.

Buy them Peter, you know you want to. Not a bad price I think. If you do get them, let us know what they are like performance wise.

My car needs something badly but I am thinking another 2 cylinders would be better than headers.

I've been thinking about putting them on my outback. The price seems pretty reasonable. There are heaps of guys on the other forum using them.

I'd have a major battle on my hands with the Minister for War & Finance Brett.

I just want that boxer burble on the outside not the rumble inside.

Mine could do with a Turbo

I mean, as in there, is there only 1 exhaust port on the heads themselves?
The later model Gen II, and all Gen III's and IV's have 2 exhaust ports per head.
