so i thought id do a little writeup on my newly completed water to air intercooler and blow off valve install.

with lots of pictures of course

ive finally found the right setup. the water to air is definitely the way to go. much better boost.
picked up the WAIC kit for $100 from perthwrx.com, had all the bits with it. used some ally checkerplate that i got from vidler a while ago to make a platform bracket.




I had to take off that vertical support guard that comes off the stoneguard to fit the condenser but i cant see it actually doing much anyway. its held in by some long tek screws in the bottom and cable ties thru the radiator at the top.
notice i CAN still have aircon aswell with this setup, it fits and hasnt made any noticeable difference with the temperature. i may still drill some giant holes in the bullbar tho for some extra flow.

i bought some silicon elbows off ebay to look and flow better than the mpfi intake plenum. i had to get 2 adapting pipes made so i could weld them together to fit the blow off valve. 2.5" from the TB to 3" on the waic and the bov pipe is 2.25". theres still a little more work to do on it as i have to make a nipple for this other pipe and weld a nut into it for an airflow sensor that my old pipe had.

the BOV is a fake greddy type s unit also from ebay. we had some trouble trying to get it to actually work, thought it may have been just dodgy. it came with a tee piece which i put into the manifold vac line but still didnt work. found out it had to be straight from the manifold- no Tee. (cheers brenny). had to take out one of the two springs in it too to make it work with my low boost.

Good job, that BOV definitely looks like it means business .

Why does the T-piece make a difference? I have my RS lib BOV hooked up with a T-Piece

Make sure you bleed all the air out of the water system, it can hold a lot more air than you would think.

Turn the pump on, remove the filler cap on the WAIC and you should be able to see the water swirling. Leave it running and leave for 10 minutes, come back and refill if water level has dropped

new setup def looks a lot better and i guess if ur going slow ie 4wd work, the waic works better than air to air.
