ej20tt in brumby

will a ej 20tt fit in a brumby and what crossmember is needed for the up pipes as it has a auto box connected would it be an awd box or 2wd box it's a jap import..

Well an EJ20TT is gonna be a tight fit, even tighter than in an L series. It will take a lot of fabbing and customising to work.
Id say if it is a turbo, it will have an AWD box. I very much doubt they fitted 2WD gearboxes with turbos

They do fit and they aren't any harder to put in than a single turbo. You need to modify your cross member that is in there now.
What you will have trouble with is fitting the auto box in the Brumby transmission tunnel. The Brumby is too narrow for the auto to sit in there correctly. Modifications have to be done to the body work.

WHats the legality of fitting an EJ20TT or in fact any turbo into a brumby?

Not too sure but im pretty sure it is legal to increase your engine capacity by 20% with out having to be engineered. If you are changing and cutting cross members im guessing it would need to be engineered.

If you mean a gearbox that is originally from a Brumby then the answer is yes.

Yeah it will fit but only if you modify a few things...and there are a bunch of other things to consider with a conversion like this.
I'd advise against using an adaptor plate on the original gearbox. The original gearbox will not last too long unless you are very careful with it. Also won't be very nice to drive, you really need an EJ AWD gearbox. You can use the auto that comes with the motor but as BYB01 says the transmission tunnel requires modification which might be a minor task for some but could be a major task for others.
As BYB01 mentioned you need to modify your engine crossmember to clear the exhaust system, you may be able to get away with using a factory turbo one but these are very rare to find to suit MY model cars.
If using an EJ gearbox (manual or auto) I'm fairly sure you will have to construct a crossmember basically from scratch for this.
You will need a shortened tailshaft.
Have to customize your manual shifter linkages or auto shifter linkages.
Need to cut/shut some small sections out of the chassis rails towards the front of the engine bay to clear the timing covers of the motor. The engine bay is just too narrow at that point.
If using a turbo EJ gearbox you will have to convert to a hydraulic clutch system which involves making some brackets for the clutch pedal and retro-fitting a master cylinder to the firewall.
Those are the main mechanical and bodywork issues you will face (limited to just getting everything to physically fit and have the ability to operate them).
Naturally you also have to consider a decent cooling system (radiator & fans), fuel system, modified cut-down wiring harness, at the minimum ensuring all your brakes steering and other mechanicals are in good working order (you don't want to die with all this extra power in a 1980's car), performance exhaust system etc etc etc...
Legalities...well. I'm sure you might be able to get it registered but it would be a difficult process to get a full engineering permit. If everything is done top notch then its no doubt possible.
