hi everyone,
im having a bit of trouble with the adaptor plate. is there meant to be a plate underneath the flywheel between it and the crossmember? right now it seems to be a bit exposed. Also one of the gearbox holes doesnt line up with the adaptor plate quite right, about 2mm out. is it ok to drill out the gearbox holes?
cheers,
adam

wheres the adaptor plate from?
I spose it's okay to drill out the gearbox hole abit, it will still hold together okay, just means you have to do it again if you ever change the gearbox. Perhaps if you loosen off the other bolt a little there will be enough play to move the plate around and get the other bolt to line up....
You can make up abit of tin or something to cover up the bottom section normally.

Yes there is a bit of tin designed to go over that bottom part of the flywheel. My car has one. Someone may have one laying about. They fasten on with 2 10mm bolts.
My adaptore plate is the same. Not 2mm out but slightly out so there was more meat between the 2 bolt holes in the adaptor plate. So i have had to hit the bolt holes in the gear box with a drill every time. It will be fine to make em a little bigger.

yeh i ended up just drilling out the gearbox holes, had to make one of them quite big to get it to work. What i didnt realise at first was that one of the threads on the adaptor plate was tapped on an angle, which made it very hard to get that bolt in. im not sure who made the plate andrew, bought it 2nd hand off of someone else on the forum. i think its a BYB one. had to drill out the gearbox hole on an angle as well. Mat i'll be working on the car tomorrow. u can come around whenever.
cheers,
