hey guys,

When attempting to chop up a wiring loom, do i just make sure i keep everything going into the ecu, and then splice whatever needs joining to the L series loom?

cheers,
adam

In a way,... yes

But it is pretty involved, have you got a propper wiring diagram?

No, but ive had the EA82 MPFI and an EA82T one appart and there was a bit in them.

- Get yourself an Multimeter and learn how to use it.
- Study the diagrams carefully
- Have a pen and paper on hand to make notes as you go
- Double check the wire you are about to cut matches the one in the diagram. Make a few copies of the wiring diagram and get a box of highlighters and mark each wire off as you go.
- I cant stress enough, Check twice, cut once!

There are plenty here that have done EJ loom splicing, so dont hesitate to ask questions.

alright, ive got all that, so to get started, strip off all the loom tape and corry, then start identifying wires and marking them, chopping the ones not going into the ecu and stripping them out, once done, get L series loom and identify wires that need spliced. is it better to splice the 2 looms when everything is set out in the car or is it easier to do it when stripping the EJ loom?

cheers

Best to strip down the EJ loom. Then cut and lable the 6 or 7 wires on the EA loom you need to connect up...just cut them right next to where they used to plug into the EA ECU.
Then they are in the right place to splice into the EJ loom right next to the EJ ECU (just mount it where the EA ecu used to be).
Then u just lay the EJ loom in the car and connect those wires.

If you need help with the loom (as its been said, its fairly involved) contact Oversteer on these boards, he is pretty clued up on cutting these turbo looms down. He did mine.
