Hi Guys,

Can anyone give me some feedback on aftermarket cam grinds for an EA81?
I'm rebuilding my spare engine and I'd like a little cam to help it breath.
I've already had the heads reconditioned, 3 angle seats, pocket port job etc.
The cam I'm looking at has 207 @.050, 270 adv duration and .400 valve lift.
And will I need an aftermarket valve spring set or are the stock springs up to the task?

Any help greatly appreciated.;)

mine is a cam by Watson race cams in sydney 16/56 .235 lift ? It is the wildest he would do to ensure that even with big tyres it can still go up mount ousley without running out of puff. More than happy with it.

So working it backwards the standard valve lift of 8mm gives about .210 at the cam lobe.

Steptoe,

Your .235 gives you .3525 at the valve or 8.95mm
My quoted .400 (10.1mm) at the valve is about .266 at the lobe.
I'm shooting for the highest lift with the shortest duration combo and still be torquey at low rpm. Looking for 1500 to 6000 rpm.

and my valve adjustment is 4 thou HOT both in and out. 12 thou sounds like a chaff cutter
