I am seriously considering a wrx top mount IC setup, have read conflicting opninions on the necessity of a blow off valve. Obviously if I had one it would be the recirculating type. What are people's opinions? Boost will be kept stock

If you have stock boost you will havrdly notice it but they are well worth the effort. With an EA turbo you will need a BOV with a fairly heavy spring in em to keep it shut when not needed

Stock are best. an atmo one for wank factor (yes i have had one) it also cause the car to run lean(? i think correct me if im wrong) as the ecu thinks that it is putting more air in to the engine that what is actually is going in. not running one will have an affect on the spool up time the turbo. due to the increased pressure in the intake (but you get cool intake flutter hey matt).

theres a stock one on ebay from a s14 sylvia, would this be up to it? Most of the TMICs i'm looking at dont include a bov.

no, as the wrx tmic was a 1 off style flange that will not suit any other car. u can get a stock wrx plum back cheep as chips. but note that gc / gd tmic have diff style flanges also.
eg on my car

The Stock bolt on WRX Bovs seem to be made a bit better that the plasitc ones found on the RS engines.
