Dude... i did it in my hatch... which has the EXACT same doors as a brumby. I used the door motors and stuff from an MY touring wagon.

The window rail had to be swaped to suite the large windows and some of the mounting for the motor took a bit of playing about to get it to wind all the way up and down correctly. I ended up making sloted holes in the door for the mounting holes for the motor making it easily adjustable.

Best way get hold of a MY touring wagon and have a good look at comparing the 2 set ups.

The height of the window is the same in the wagons and the brumby which is why this works soo sell. VERY do-able... did it over 2 years ago and haven't had any dramas.

To make it easier, find an MY coupe with electric windows. Then there is no need to modify anything.

This is bizarre! I was wondering how hard this would be to do in my head the other day!

I think I'll be going to the wreckers on the weekend!

I have never seen an MY coupe with power windows. How sure are u that they exist? Even the luxury models i have seen still had normal winders.

The really late ones had it as an option (& yes I've seen at least one, but I don't pay much attention to the MYs coz I've never had one)

Did the same with my brumby using touring wagon parts, only 3 of the 4 mounting points lined up so i just broke off the offending one and in it went, as for the wiring very simple as the plug for the windows is under the dash

Remember also guys that the MY coupe has shorter windows than a Brumby, the winsdcreen is raked back more and the roof sits lower.

Very noticeable to tall folk like me. :D

And Dave, they definitely had them as an option on 83 GLF5's, the first GLF I went to look at when I was buying had power windows.

I have electric windows in my coupe from factory!

They came with the same centre console as a touring wagon, but I made custom door panels and window switches to control it from the door.

Sorry mate, same screen as all MY's, just different rubber. Door glass is also the same height, but staight up at the rear unlike Brumby's. The electric windows on the coupe were part of the Power Pack ie p/steer, elec windows and digi dash, and even a factory sunroof.

What year? 83 and 84. 82 missed the dash. Were only in same time as the Tourer had them.

I never said the windscreen was shorter. I said it was raked back more.

The roof is definitely shorter on the coupe than the sedan, check my sig I own both. I don't own a Brumby though, so if the Brumby uses the same height glass as the coupe then I'll get down off my little soap box. But I have ridden in several Brumbys and I don't remember my head being jammed against the ceiling like it is in a coupe. Point conceded about the glass shape though.

I looked at a Coupe yesterday and it had eletric windows! So they definitely did come with them.

Just on another note, I hear people say the Coupe doors are the same as the Brumby doors. However, I think the glass may be different in them as my Brumby glass is slanted at the back vs the Coupe straight edge at the back.
