This question is directed at anyone running L Series Control Arms on MY/Brumby and adjustable castor rods; how long do your control arm bushes last? As mine have already worn out the outer edge of the bush (the part you can see) in a matter of months! Also note polyurthane bushes. I am just wondering if it is this type of bushes or wot?

I've always wondered this. Surely running adjustable rods would put the control arms at a funny angle therefore putting alot of extra twist on the bushes... ?

I am using standard MY bushes and they have lasted for about 12 months so far, with a short break in the middle when it had no engine.

Actual km's on since the L arms would probably only be around 8k, but they cop a fair bit of punishment offroad.

I also used and trimmed down the XE 'bush plates?' and reversed the forward one because it touched the mounting plate on almost full travel. (so they are both concave from the front of the car)

Thanks MY_STI sounds like the bushes are going back when i go to townsville, as it not a normal problem. I thought they should last longer then about 3k km. What do you mean Ian, mine is sorted just got dud bushes, can't help that. After all that's what warranties are for aren't they?

Depends on brand of urethane bush. Some are better quality than others.

They will wear allot faster on vehicles with greater caster set by radius rods.

My Nolathane ones have been in about 12 months now, 28,000 kms or so.
No apparent damage, I am not nice to them.

L series arms, foulcon radius rods.

They twist a bit , grease hell out of them.

mine were sloggedc out a bit when i started... now theyre really slogged out!

it would depend opn how far forward you push the lower control arm really

mine are a long way forward and the bushing is far from sitting straight so it makes sence that the wear that way

but if you have it set up so the bushing sits straight then theres no reason you should see any more than normal wear

On a side note - what are these adjustable castor rods, and can you fit them to an L series ?

If I can't get camber easily, the least I can do it try to get decent castor !
