MY Wagon options

Hey all,
I have to get my MY wagon going again. Its halfway through its EJ20G conversion and its stalled on a few points:
-Needs new hydraulic clutch setup, old one was too heavy and was causing wear;
-Needs new fuel rails / injectors, the 380's hit 100% IDC @6000rpm on 12psi;
-Engine and body needs some TLC.
Now I have another idea of how to get it going in the short term. I have a spare MPFI EJ16 still, complete with wiring harness. The car really needs to be able to move around the end of February, under its own steam. The long term plan is to go with the EJ20G and TD05H setup from my coupe, on 18psi with a nice cool inlet charge.
That said, I have 3 immediate engine options. No matter what setup I go with, I'll be using the turbo 4.11 5spd behind it.
1) EJ20G in the short term, running no intercooler, 5psi and stock injectors, fix later;
2) EJ16 MPFI stock as a rock for now, fix EJ20G later;
3) EJ16 MPFI turbo conversion, using my old VF10, rising rate reg and 5psi, fix EJ20G later.
I'm keen to hear what people think on this issue. I'm leaning towards option 2, although the power of an NA EJ16 in a lifted MY will certainly not impress anyone, least of all me.

I've been talking to various people about this, and at the moment I'm leaning towards the EJ16 stock option... does anyone have anything else to add?

well i went for ej20 but if you wan to use that later i would go for the 16 although it maybe a little under powered for the wagon??

I'd go with option 1, as you've said it's already halfway there, either way you'll have to fix the hydrualic clutch because your using the same gearbox, the wiring is already prepared and just needs to be fitted, where as (from memory) the ej16 wiring still needs a little work.
Then just sort your fuel issues out later when time/funds allow.
Otherwise the time required to prepare and fit the ej16 could just about have the ej20 up and running at full capacity.
Of course this is all just going from memory of where you were at last time we talked about it, it could very well be at a different state by now.

No only joking go with the most simplest and most logical – this may not have the desired outcome to suit your immediate needs however it will be beneficial in the long term. I would like to know more info, like what do you not have now that you had on the coupe? And/or what was incorrect on the coupe set up – lol obvious issues not needed.
For what I can tell and based on these options, my pic would be option 1 – followed by option 2. More so give you current progress (its in the engine bay) and it needs to be running by Feb and in the long term less stuffing around (depending on what you have to do - hard to advise as i do not have full picture).
You need a hand let us know (although I am sure that Suabrino and AndrewT will beat me to it).

id say go the option u wanna end up with... ej20g
u gotta do the clutch anyway, and your gonna need to give it some tlc whatever u do
so possibly hold off on the coola and keep the boost down until you can get it all done properly
so if u find a way to get some injectors/fuel rails (you can always just run an extra fuel line to both ends of the rails)
so itll be a lot less work in the long run... and you get to play with the toys;)

I'm going with the flow here and sayin A (voted before looking at results). Main reason less work from the info you've given and your better setup for your goal unless your going to rebuild the EJ20G, if that's the case i'd swap my vote to B an drop the EJ16 in til the EJ20 sorted.

I went with option #1. Don't go doing things twice if you can help it. I take it you have done the chassis rail mod?

you haven't said anything about brakes, so i'll assume the standard pisser My brakes?
so
keep the boost down,right down, till u can afford the brakes to go with the power?

Thanks for the feedback guys, given me plenty to think about.
I'm pulling the EJ20G back out this week and making an executive decision then. If I'm happy with the motor after a bit of work and inspection, it will go straight back in. Otherwise I'll be doing the worlds dodgiest turbo conversion on an EJ16.
Either way I still need heaps of parts, a 4" lift kit changes a lot of things.
EDIT: Oh and the brakes will do fine for now, more horsepower only requires more brakes if you're using it. The Bratgeebah kit is on my wish list, need money to do it though.

Continue with the 20G.
1 conversion / engine swap is easier than 2. I can't really see the advantage. You're gonna have to cut a whole nother harness down and everything to get that EJ16 going.
If you're going to be using the turbo gearbox your going to have to sort the hydraulic clutch setup out anyway which really only leaves the injectors to get sorted. Just run it on crippled boost until you can figure out the intercooler.
Seems the most logical thing to do anyways. Anything else will just create more work.

EJ20G is on the floor of my garage again.
I'll be sticking with it after all I think, gonna need quite a few parts though.

I think you need to get that EJ16 into Daniel's sedan before you have any other ideas

Yes, that is on the cards unless Daniel goes and buys another bloody L series, EJ16 with VF10 and aftermarket topmount WAIC.
