Hi Guys,

just wondering what bottom radiator hose to use for EJ into brumby with original radiator.

i believe the top hose is ok?

and i realise the outlets have to be bigger too

in my MY with 4" lift i use a standard flexi hose for the bottom hose

I had the outlets enlarged and the bottom one angled downwards. Couldn't find any hoses that remotely suited so ended up joining two bends together with a discarded radiator outlet for the top, and cutting down a hose from something else for the bottom. The local Car Torque store was helpful, I just left a peice of convoluted aluminium tube bent to the required shape with them and they just mixed and matched.

Is this an EJ20 turbo? In my coupe I used a bottom hose for an 83 Bluebird as both my top and bottom hoses! They're fairly long with 3 or 4 bends from memory.

Other than that, grab a piece of coathanger wire and bend it into the shape you want for the hose. Run it from the centre of one outlet to the centre of the other, trying not to use tight bends and the like. Make it as simple as possible... if the outlet is bent down I think you'll find a right angle hose will come very close.

Make sure you get the hose diameter right too, I think its 36mm.

Use the wire to harass your local parts shops.

Just use some flexi hose and bend it till it fits. Take it to a radiator shop and say make it fit. That's what I did and they put some bends on the radiator outlets and found suitable hoses. Was by far easier than trying to work through it with a parts store. Of course it costs more money to do it that way too.

Do what everyone else recomends and get a standard hose and make it so it plumbs up to the MY rad that way parts are not a problem.

I can't be certain... but I can say that particular hose offers several 90 degree bends, is the right diameter and is available and cheap.

In my EJ20G + 4" lifted wagon I am using totally different hoses again... did the wire trick to find the right ones.

Could you let me in on what you used with the four inch lift?

i reckon that would be fairly close for a three inch lift.

My radiator outlets have been modified and I've not yet fitted the hoses. Can't find the bottom hose atm, will have a look for it.

Top hose is off an FZJ80 (Petrol 80 series Landcruiser).

do your radiator outlets come straight out like the old ones or have they been angled. mine are just straight out with the new ones.

Mine have been angled.

The top outlet points down and inward, roughly in the direction of the water outlet on the motor. The hose in the coupe used to be straight, the S bend in the cruiser hose allows for the lift kit.

The bottom outlet comes out then a 90 degree bend and points straight down. This means the bottom hose isn't much more than a 90 degree bend itself. Because the bottom outlet of the radiator pretty much points straight into the cam cover of the EJ (well it does on a quad cam), you might want to consider having the outlet modified.
