Wheels of a different kind
Wheels of a different kind
Hey Crew sorry it been a while...
Though i would place this in here as i have finally unpacked (found) my aftermarket steering wheel (and boss)
Any other tricks to getting off a steering wheel?
I know that this should be a straight forward job however read on…
~ It WILL not just pull off (several attempts buy several non believers).
~ 3 finger pulley puller will not fit (have not tried 2 finger yet).
~ Bent 4mm mild steal on it as we thought that we should just be able to place it over the spline and then screw 2 bolds into the wheel thus drawing it off the spline = no success (hope this 1 makes sence).
Has anyone any other ideas?
I am seriously starting to thinking a trip east on some seriously corrugated WA roads with the nut off the spline, as it will rattel everthing else off :P

Should be 2 bolt holes in the wheel/boss that are there to use a 2 bolt puller on.....
Even with a puller on there and tentioned up in some cases I`ve found you still have to smack the crap out of it(carefully of course !) to get the wheel to come free. But the puller is a must.
I have 2 pully pullers that fit...you can borrow one if your coming by this way.

As Oversteer said "remember the gympie hammer is your friend".
When you get some tension on with your home made puller, hit it hard with the gympie.
Make sure that the nut is protecting the thread or you could do some real damage.
On old mechanic friend once told me "If at first you don't succeed, use a bigger hammer".

DAG-NAM-IT!!! i had not though of that THANKS TIMMY.
Postie the drum roll thing could be an ooption but she has been smacked around a bit - how you feel anout a trip to my place to weave ya majic
Xtreme_RX we have tried pullers but no i did not know that there was a specific steering wheel puller, I'll see how i go.
O/S i think i can see you place from the feeway on my way home... not that i can see much at the speed i am doing. I drop you a line once i am home that way I can cruse over in the car… unless you would prefer I just grab and run.

I've got one of the pullers from Supercheap.
It has always pulled off the hardest wheel.
