whats the go with the engine mounts when putting a ej22 into a L?with the ej in on its standard mounts the left side won't sit flat on the crossmember as there is a lip and the angles wrong, the right seems ok as there is as scallop in the turbo crossmember.Any suggestions?

Brumby and L series crossmembers are different unless u have done something weird here.

MYs/Brumbys.... Angle is fine but it does make installation easier if your file out both engine mount holes in the crossmember outwards by 5mm each.

L's... i have seen people cut and remake the angles and i have seen people simply just spacer the mount up a little using large washers.

What I did was grind off the locating knob on the mounts, and just place a washer on the inside of the bolts. For some reason my mounts almost lined up with the crossmember fine, but my brother's ones had a much bigger gap.

the ej mounts i have don't have locating knob just look the L mounts with a larger plate.at the moment i have the L mounts bolted to the ej plate on the motor.one side don't look to bad but the left it seems to have a bit of a angle on the rubber.

You can adapt the L series mounts onto the Lib mounts or use a Purlin spacer taper washer.

The plates on the top of the mounts are made of milo tins.

Put it in a vice, get a big adjustable spanner and bend it until the required angles are reached.

I welded some flat to it afterwards to give it extra rigidity.

Not sure if this helps but my EJ20G (with EJ25 mounts - square type) just dropped straight onto my L series crossmember without any issue at all.
The engine mounts just slipped straight through the crossmember mounts and the angle was fine.
The bellhousing did slightly rest on the top of the crossmember at first but this was fixed by a combination of using a couple of big washers in between each mount to space it up slightly and bashing the top of the crossmember a little with a Subaru Special Tool #47 (big mallet).

The tapered washers from a scoffold supply place. EJround mounts are not my favourite type of engine mount, yes they remove more vibration than the square ones but the square ones seem to fail less often.
