Speedo correction with 15" rims

Fitting a set of 15" rims to my 1990 GX Wagon and am wondering if there is any modification available to correct the speedo. I am very conscious of my speed as I don't have too many points left (thats what happens when your other car is a Liberty RS haha). I am hoping that it can be corrected as it would make it much easier.

Would also just like to say thankyou to all the crew on here who have been answering all my posts. This forum has been extremely helpful. Cheers

What size tyres were on there and what size tyre are you thinking of putting on the 15's.

Yes this is very possible. The speedo cable is cut and a small gearbox is installed inline with whatever ratio is required to correct the discrepency. Lapsed on this forum has one in his car (Vidler's old car), perhaps he could take a photo for you. The little gearbox is right near the firewall on the engine bay side.

Thanks for the information, very keen to get a picture and details on locating one of these little gearboxes to fit. Do we know if this is definately possible on the 1990 GX wagons ? What model is Lapsed's car ?

The profile of tyres I am fitting to the 15's are 70. Which is exactly the same as the tyres that were on the 14's

If it's a mechanically driven speedo cable then it should be the same as Lapsed's car (his is an L series).
If yours is an electronic speedo then I don't know how you'd correct the speed, probably some kind of electronic circuit.
Where are you located? I know of a place in Perth where you can get the gearboxes fitted.

If your speedo is electronic signal, there is a mod kit from JAYCAR. DIY and all for $45. Cat no. KC-5380

Ok, not too sure if they are mechanical but I will find out. I am in Bunbury but am in Perth pretty often. Will be up over the next couple of months for training so quite possibly can get it done then. If you pass on the contact I can see if they have something to suit. Chers
