I would have thought that 2.5 would have enough HP to start with, but a turbo is always an option.

I enquired about this once....I think I remember being told that Brett had done this once before and the motor didn't last long.
I think that mabey a supercharger arrangement might be more suitable, have a chat with Brumberty on this, he has one running on an EJ22.

Otherwise you could try smaller upgrades like larger injectors perhaps.

ah haha, my info is abit out of date but I remember Brett himself advising me against it at the time. No doubt he's done some other mods to help the motor withstand it :D

yeah, sent the block away and had the standard sleeves removed and had diesel sleeves fitted then had the deck closed, it is way tougher than it ever needs to be now, he was told that that combined with his forged pistons can handle 2bar of boost.

Brumberty has the advantage of running straight LPG which works well with mildly boosted motors on standard compression (unless of course you can't wait to get it tuned properly  )

I'd imagine the first front cuts of the 2.5 turbo WRX / Forester XT will be arriving on our shores soon. That would be an easy conversion, albiet predictably expensive.

I find the 169kw's more than enough! :D :D :D :D :D

Cheers,
Willie.

I imagine a better breathing exhaust and a re-chipping or something might help with the sluggishness below 3k rpm, other than that I have no complaints.

I might supercharge mine later once it becomes a dedicated off roader.

I have a 2001 outback with a silver powerchip 2 1/2 inch exhuast from the Cat back and a pod airfilter inside inner guard. It has picked up mid range and has a little bit more up top.
MRT sell pre made Headers for this model as well as full exhausts and further Mods http://www.mrtrally.com.au
Powerchip also make a gold chip upgrade as long as you can use 98 octane fuel

i would avoid any dealings with MRT unless absolutely essential. Have had really bad experiences and heard of others too. Definately not the cheapest out there. Having said that, they have put some R&D into their products.
