I have just fitted a 50mm lift kit and power steering to my Brumby, the problem I have is the lower part of the gearstick hits on the 4wd selector when 4wd low is engaged and as a result reverse can not be selected. Any suggestions?

I dont think I had to modify the main gearbox stick when I fitted lift kits ?
Is there movement in the stick (sloppy) ?.
Maybe when the car was at standard height it could deal with any slop but with the lift kit the slop is causing a problem.
If this is the case replace the bushings on the stick and this could tighten things up enough to do the trick.
I seem to recall I cut and rewelded the $WD stick when I fitted the 2" kit to the MY wagon and I cold bent the $WD stick with the 2" kit on the L series.
In both cases I went to the wreckers and bought a spare stick in case I stuffed it during the mod process.
I doesnt need to be bent much to clear but have a look at gearbox stick slop.

Thanks for the info, gear stick is fairly tight I tidied up the lower section and it has new bushes in it. I might get a lower part from the wreckers and modify to move stick across. The 4wd lever also feels fairly tight what should I do here.

Its hard without seeing it but I guess, see if you can get someone to move the main gear stick through the gears while you are under the car and watching the linkages/stick etc. Do the same with the 4WD stick. Make sure you can definately ID where things are hitting.
As I said before I dont recall having to modify the main gear stick only the 4WD stick.
At the end of the day it seems you will need to bend something to get clearance and maybe getting a gear stick and 4WD stick as a spare and a good base example is a good idea. That way if something stuffs up or you are not sure what the stick(s) looked like before you started you will have the spares as a template or spare to use to stay on the road.

Thanks for your help, the lower part that slides on the selector rod has been bent away from the 4wd selector shaft, and I found out that the gearbox mounts are a bit worn so increasing the angle on the 4wd shaft and making it tight. I have jacked up the gearbox a little and it fixes the problem so time for new gearbox mounts.
Once again thanks for your help.

I'm pretty sure these are common problems with lift kits on MY's with stock everything. I've read about these exact issues in more than one place, but since I haven't done these mods myself I couldn't tell you exactly. If I'm not mistaken Cam aka BrumbyKid was asking about the same thing recently.

Yep!
Umm, I had to get rid of the boot so I could get the normal gear stick over far enough for reverse. It's better now that the broken engine mount was tightened.
Going to do all mounts soon, hopefully that helps.

Cheers Cam
