L Series window reg in MY :)

Post by steptoe » Thu Dec 06, 2012 3:50 pm

I'll let you know how I go with my attempted fix of the crank mechanism of my Brumby ......part no longer avail from Subaru, electric life not do manual winders,.......

:lightbulb: drilled out rivets holding little crank cog andits housing, did same on a spare L Series left hand regulator, drilled recess on the back face to allow rivet head to clear the toothed bit, drilled out back hole to 6mm to suit L Series upgraded upsized bit compared to about 4mm std for MY, four fat rivets and she is in and works smooth

Only thing is the stump of the splined bit is about ten mm shorter, stumpier, but a trial fit suggests I will get it working OK

Ah so you didn't swap over the whole regulator, rather you fixed the standard MY one with some L series parts - good work!

Bugger about the winder handle shaft being so short though - Just another speed bump in the mini project I guess.

Cheers
