OMG Yes that would be awesome! I'd love one in my Forester. At only 1300kg I reckon it'd go like a cat on fire :D
I've read that with a tune and exhaust people are getting 450nm of torque from them :0
An EZ30 only has 280nm and a 2.0l wrx has around the 300 mark...

That first video I posted in the youtube video sction a while ago.

Boxeer is trying to sell a EE20 on USMB 7600 US dollars

http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/sho ... p?t=136205

-Engine EE20 less than 5k miles (with turbo, alternator,A/C compressor...Complete!!)
-Transmission 6 speed diesel
-Rear diff diesel
-Starter motor (high torque from diesel)
-Matching ECU with IMMO unit + coded key

BONUS:
-Subaru DIESEL engine cover !!
-Subaru Diesel rear hatch badge !!
-Subaru diesel service manual !!

The wiring is raw cutted and will need to be sorted out using the service manual that has all wiring diagrams.

I'd love to take it on, the CAN bus wiring loom would be a real challenge. Unfortunately I dont have enough money or space to have another project

I don't see the point. Wayyy to pricey and perhaps abit unreliable?

DPF problems and the shudder issue?

Then you could put Jeremy Clarkson in one for an evaluation to see if his opinion changes on Subie Dieesel (that is IF you could get his large body in a Brumby :)

Hurricane make a programmable after market ECU for the EE20

Would be awesome if it worked 100%.
I would imagine much better for a serious offroad brumby.

How does it not work 100%?? I believe these fellas have developed a stand alone programmable ECU and wiring loom. The only issue for engineering would be the DPF delete...

It'd be awesome, even in Ruby Scoo :p

WWWWOOOOOOHHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO !
Just found out earlier today that the UK outlet for the stand alone for the EE20 is just.........10 miles away from where I live !!!!!
Also have had a tip of where to buy (at sensible money) the donor engine / box / diff / looms from.
hehehehehehe
Just need some dough now - oh and a rust free rolling shell Brumby - if any one has one for sale ?
This is warming up nicely:p

There was a guy down my way, that was selling a roadworthy brumby and a rolling shell but he wants 5000 dollars for the pair. Rather ambitious in my opinion.

Jealous Giles! But we have brumbys down here so I guess that settles me down again :p

Do it though, I'm sure some one would pack and send you a brumby, even if it's got the drive train removed... Maybe.

Cheers

How much different is the EJ gearbox to the EE one? Could an L Series AWD box handle the torque of one of these?

I would say no. A wrx puts out around 300Nm while one of these throws a min of 350Nm. If an L-Series box can't handle a wrx motor then it highly doubt it could handle an EE20.
Oh and remember being diesel it rev's much lower, the ratios would be all wrong. Even an EJ box would be all wrong with the ratios.

A stock L does around 3500rpm. If you put 3" larger tyres on it would drop it around 400-500rpm. So 6" larger tyres but 2500rpm is still way too high for highway cruising for a diesel. Around the 2000 mark is where you need it..

We have a 6 speed TD forester and at 110km/h the tacho reads just over 2000 rpm. The tacho redline is around 4500rpm and I can guarantee if you have hit the redline you are making some serious horsepower.

Alex had an EJ20t mated to a 5 speed "l" series box and as I understand it the box and engine was sold on to another member after wanky wagon was parted out.

the only gear boxes I wouldn't mate this engine to are the EA 4 speed and the 4 EAT auto box, having said that Im sure you could :)

the engine would work its best with the 6 speed it came from the factory with, but are you prepared to pay $7600 (from the USMB link) for an engine and gearbox?

yep, i respected that gbox though and was running additives in the oil. Im pretty sure it gave Guy a fair run before dying. Wanky would have been pushing well over 350nm when i had her running 18psi for the majority of the time.

The l-series 5 speed is pretty weak and if i wanted to i could have broken it very easily in my wagon, but as long as you dont bang gears and drive it stupid, theyre okay.

Toonga, what is the low range like in the Forrester?
