your thoughts????

Post by shuffbag » Thu Aug 02, 2012 5:32 pm

so the ej22 was dieing quite rapidly in my vortex, so i switched the ej25 dohc back in.

along with all ej22 sensors and intake wiring. it has spark, injectors have pulse and there is fuel pressure.
but it is not starting or even spluttering?

it has ej22 crank/cam sensors, ej22 knock sensor, iacv, tps, coil pack and igniter.
the only ej25 items remaining are ej25 crank/cam gears (dohc) and ej25 injectors.

so does a ej25 fire differently to a ej22? by eye the cam gear from the ej22 (sensor side) looks like it could be switched on and im geussing the crank gear would be interchangeable. hopefully giving me correct spark/fuel?
shoud i switch injectors?
does this sound resonabe? i could move the dowel in the cam gear to fine tune?

DOHC has a different pickup sense than the SOHC models.

I would say you would be best using another wiring loom/ecu or buy a cheap aftermarket one.

What do you mean by "pickup sense"?

I thought you could drop an DOHC Ej25 in with the SOHC EJ22 wiring and intake manifold (plus swapping to the EJ22's cam and crank angle sensors) and she'd be peachy?

I've considered doing this just to see what the EJ25 is like in Ruby Scoo without redoing all the wiring.

Take the LH pulley off the SOHC and take of the LH inner pulley off the DOHC and put them both face down and compare.

Why do you think they would work? have you seen this done before?

I think swapping blocks would be fine but not going from sohc to dohc on the same wiring and computer.

I thought I'd read about it on USMB a few times from different sources.

yeah i though i had read about it befor on usmb as well.
there is only the one sensor on a early ej25's cam gears, so the ej22 ecu/wiring should run it if everything match's. i might just need to swap the single cam gear over? if the tooth count is the same.

does any one know what fuel pressure the ej's normally run?
