Want a custom bar work front bumper l series.

Hi all I want to design and make a custom front bar replacing the stock one on my l series ( bar work). Similar to like a potrol comp truck but more quiet / suttle and les fagy. Want it to shorten up the noise by around 6 inches and continue into a custom bash plate to keep the sand out. It will have a 4 inch lift to match and I have already made a custom rear bumper and spare tire gate to match. Wondering If anyone has seen anything similar or links? Photos for some ideas.
Thanks guys

Taken around on the web.
This below would be great to stick a winch in the middle...
And below, my favorite
Put some pics of your rear bar up:)

Another +1 for the last one. Excellent approach angle increase at the corners!

I'm making one just like the last, I agree it's looks great. That's one of the problems wi th these things over hang front and back in holes and hills. I've sorted out the back with a custom rear bar that started as 100mm C Chanel it sigh higher than stock and I shortened the pipe so it didn't become part of the earth when backing up a hill.... Even with a 3 inch and 27s will have new lift kit in the new wagon with the bumpers on soon. Thinking of a new paint job. Will post heaps of pics when I start!!

Yeah once you have yours sorted, I'd be pretty keen to get one (I may have to replace the bumper on the brumby for RWC, so a front bar would fix that issue

)

Not brumby lights, specific L series units from the US on the povo pack DL's, at least the early ones anyway.
There is one set in Aust that I know of - Guyph's touring wagon. Looks Back to the Future to me and it's something I'd consider as the high beam globes could be upgraded massively as they're off with the low beam

Some will say they're shit, but I reckon they're jealous.
Mitchsj, I can post some pics of my rear bar set up, it's rough, crude but effective and gets the job done. I need to work on a new set of hinge pins as they're a little small for the job
Cheers

They're fugly yes.
Downgrade imho. Makes the car look 10 years older than it really is.

On the topic of custom bar work...
What sort of material do people use? Obviously most homemade stuff is largely round steel tube. But what sort of wall thickness is it? Where can you get it from? What is it normally used for? etc etc...
Not thinking this is something I am going to tackle all that soon, but I would like to have a whack one day.
Original Kit ...

Depends on what you want to do with it ...
If it's just for show, go with alluminum ( weight saving ) however, if you want strength, go for stuff that is redily available ( eg: fencing pipe ) & has a 2 to 3 mm wall thickness - any thicker & it will become rather heavy.
You can also make it lighter by removing any unesscary bits + drill some well placed holes / slots ( for ventilation ) ...

thanks mate i already have my rear bar done. just finished my roof basket i have just made as i need it for camping, its only a little one, 880 wide and 1100 long so i can keep it on all the time. got it to sit real low to the roof to keep it neat, i love the look of the 4 spot lights across the front of the basket.. i just painted it today at work so i should have a photo of it before the weekend.. and I'm starting my bar work this week for my front end... i will most likely use 2inch steam pipe [steal] i have it all in my head how i will make it. just have to get stuck into it.. here is a pic of my rear number and swing away i made..
