ej25 conversion complete, HUGE THANKS

Post by vidler » Sun Apr 30, 2006 8:54 pm

yes, the EJ25 conversion is complete. after a minor setback last wknd getting it to run, we decided the injectors were blocked... got them cleaned and solvered the problem :) i run some of the wires during the week and dave (subarino) came round today to finish the job. We hooked it all up and cranked it over, she fired up but was idling a bit erratically. checked for codes and the idle air control valve showed up. took it off, sure enough it was seized. Gave it a wicked cleaning and free'd it up, now all is good. there is a slight ticking noise from the engine somewhere but hoping it dissapears after a week or so. All i have to do now is bleed the brakes and ill be driving her around

I'd like to extend a HUGE thankyou to Subarino, John and AndrewT for helping solve all dramas along the way, i definantly couldn't have done it without them. Any things i can help with in the future, drop me a line.

You could run them in much quicker with some tyre frying....

Didn't think you had to wear them in. I just pack them good with grease and lay strips out the driveway (well not quite, what I really mean is I drive on them straight away).

Great stuff Jay great stuff. Still don't like the surge tank though - I know my coupe's one is the same design, hope you don't run into the same problems I have.
Good to see a DOHC motor living in there though.

I'm looking forward to you lining up the Jaffa mobile!

Seeing as you've got just abit more power than the old EJ22, and that was beaten by Jaffa by just abit....should make for a pretty close race!!

Fuel starvation mainly, whenever I boot it for more than a few seconds it starts jolting about. Also when I belt around corners too.

Its all got to do with the starts and the faxt that Jay cheats :P Subarino smashes Jay and I smash Subarino so if Jay does not jump the start... Oh and that jay was in 4WD and we were in talk steer mode - That being said though it should be close, its just good to see that the old tech can still mix it with the new. I think once you and Tim (and possibally Jay)are back i will no longer have the quickest thing - which is ok.
