Hi all.
After advice. After taking the ute for a run I hit a ditch and buggered the exhaust header.. not a cheap part considering it's the bit with the cat.
So, after shelling out several hundred dollars to stop my brumby sounding farty.. I need to get something to protect it.
Now, I don't have access to sheet metal facilities. Any ideas where I could get a plate to fit the bill? And what it the best anchorage point for it?

You can get factory bash plates that bolt on. They'll usually even fit a 2" lift.

I'll check the garage, I *did* have one on the wreck that I gave Brett, but I think we fooked it in the process of moving it without wheels.

Sorry dude, I don't have one, It musta gone with the wreck. Ring around a few wreckers and ask if they've got sube's in the yard.

you could get some plate aluminium from a metal yard and make ur own that will cover headers etc... heres the one i made on my L-series

Who did the bends for you and the holes? Looks good though. I think I'd like to see if I can make it mount to the bumber bar/bullbar mounts at front on the chassis rails and would it be good to mount it to the gearbox cross member? Is there enough strength there?

Vidler fabricated that bash plate from scratch, he's quite the handyman.

Did the one on my wagon too. Only pic I can find with the bash plate shown is this one:


He made mine from 8mm ally plate. It goes from the roobar back to the two captive nuts under the steering rack.

With a 3" lift, I modded the original bash plate by extending the rear with 50mm flatbar welded to that edge and new holes drilled to suit.
The front required rebending to shape clearance for sump.
