so im helping another member on here stubaru do a ej22 conversion into an 1989 touring wagon.. we're doing the conversion at my house so i decided id chuck up some pictures to show whats going on and how she looks.. basically it's a 1989 touring wagon 3" lift kit lavell lifted springs in the front and soon civic springs in the back.. we pulled the engine and gearbox out today and we're just waiting on a clutch and a some engine mounts and should hopefully be putting the 2.2 in this week sometime..

on a side note the MPFI engine that came out needs to go from my house in the next few days so if anyone needs parts of the whole engine your welcome to parts for free or next to nothing the engine was running, not 100% but running all the same and had 420XXXkms on the clock..

that place is still "country" if not for it's proximity to outlying suburbia but for the people who reside there... i did once here a patron at a fate down there told that he had left the lights on his john deer tractor on in the car park.

Nice - good to see another conversion on the go! Got the wiring loom cut down and in the throws of being installed?

I'm keen to have a go at another conversion but without tearing out the interior to install other bits and pieces - it would be interesting only removing the dash, unless you can get away without pulling the dash out!

This was at the byford rodeo i believe, over the public announcement system haha

Wiring loom is cut down but just found out subarino is away for 3 weeks on thursday, and not confident with wiring it in haha not the best planning on my behalf.

Yeah i was thinking just take the dash put and go from there...

so we got the dash out today after uni and nic's decided that all the interior is going to be re-done (as it was in pretty shabby condition and we're always looking to expand our business interests and motor trimming looks like the new endeavour

) as far as i can tell it will be completely black excluding the seats which i believe he wants grey forester or liberty seats.. which brings me to my next question will liberty backseats or foz for that matter fitter into the touring wagons..??

as for the new engine going back in subarino is away for a while and looks like we'll be waiting for him to wire it up but hopefully get the clutch back soonish and get the engine geabox and everything sat back in just needing the wiring.

Sounds good.

By the look of that dash I would say that the touring wagon is an '88 model onwards. I thought it was a pre '88 model from the first pics send as it has the "gen1" grill on it. I mention this as I personally like the later model look of the dashboard layout/push buttons and the matching grill

A black interior would be interesting. Will you just be spraying the existing parts? I wonder how you would go re-colouring the vinyl floor and the roof panel...

AFAIK the rear seats in the L's don't fit anything else in there without modification. And I don't know of any mods to make them fit either I'm sorry!

Haha your knowledge of l-series is spot on bennie.... its an 88' model but that grill was with a bunch of parts i got when i bought her, liked the look of that one a bit more.

Yeah just going to spray all of the plastic trims. My roof lining had come away from the shell anyway so we just took off all the fittings and pulled the shell out, bought some black material and just have to stick it on now. I'm on the look out for a vinyl floor at the moment, want to get rid of the touring wagon carpet as it gets to dirty 4wd'n, think the paint is probably going to wear on it quickly but theres only one way to find out.

Hmm ah well i don't sit in the rear seats anyway haha might have to get them re-trimmed properly then or take them out and say it's for weight reduction purposes on the track....

Great work on the car guys. Make sure your heater core isn't leaking while your dash is out as most of them that age leak. It will be better to replace it now.

Keep up the good work and the pics coming and hopefully you guys will join us on our next trips:)

Haha i wish, should get the clutch back from scott this week sometime, then if all goes to plan it will be ready by saturday. When are you back dave?
