fuel pump for n/a ej20 L series

I am not sure what fuel pump setup is in the car now, but it is getting noisy and am thinking of replacing it soon but want to make sure I get one that will be sufficient.
My questions are:
- Did L-series have an intank pump?
- Would a bosch 070 external pump be good on its own for this? I heard that these pumps need to be fed by an intank pump, is that true?

Any Bosch EFI External pump will be fine for a NA EJ and as long as the pump is mounted in the original location it will not require a pre-pump. Was the L.Series an EFI model if not then you may need to make the supply line to the pump larger??

Pretty sure it was carby, I can't remember (I bought it with the ej20).
I'll grab a new external fuel pump and filter and whack it on and see how it goes.
I'll suss out the fuel lines as well, what should I use for a bigger supply line (like from which car?)

Same size line from an EFI model L.. try and find an EFI tank

How can I tell the tanks apart? (I might already have one installed for all I know hehe)

I believe (never measured) that the EFI tank has a 3/4" supply line to the pump and the Carby model has 1/2" supply.

Actually its probably more like the EFI is 1/2" and the carbie supply line is 1/4"...
I ran an EFI fuel pump on the carbie line without any issues of starvation - even the carbie tank kept the fuel up without issues. The only real issues I had was random surging - I think this was due to the fuel return line being even smaller again. Since changing this line with the EJ and running with the same pump I've not had this issue, I'm also running an EFI tank now.
