CV question...long post!

Spyder replica with EJ20T now 2.5 midmounted with a Liberty FWD box.

When I did the conversion from EA82T and gearbox to EJ20T on my 550 Spyder replica I used the existing EA82 innner CV and balls as this suited my modified Porsche 914 axles I'd been using.
I then had to use WRX (auto) outer part of the CV as it was slightly longer than the EA82T outer and suited. This was all good for the past couple of years but was a little bit clicky at times. I have since put in a Kaaz LSD and now the thing sounds like it's going to self destruct when slow turning in 1st etc. I know the diffs are loud but there is something not quite right here. I pulled the CVs apart and there is some wear but not too much, I then fitted the original WRX inner ( very good condition) that I still had with the EA82 balls and WRX outer hoping that it was just worn and this would fix it. It has a bit of movement when you hold the axle and twist the outer part of the CV. OK the question is do these CVs have the same size balls as this could be the problem!!!
I need another beer.......
