Subaru Brumby Repair

Post by luke22 » Wed Nov 17, 2010 1:52 pm

Hey all I have a subaru brumby that needs a repair to the front (head on to a tree) its only minnor! need to replace the bonnet, side pannels, grill, head lights, bumper and radiator its a dual head light model and i was wondering can i swap it to a single head light set up? also where the tree has hit it has bent the bar that the bonnet latches into and also the lower one which the radiator sits on. how hards it to replace these bars with donner bars from another brumby?
any help would be great!!!!

You don't need a brumby, you can use any MY wagon or sedan to repair the front of your brumby, the changes are midway through the driver's door.

It can be challenging, depending on what's moved further back. You could un-pic the spot welding in the radiator support panel and replace it with the good unit. If you need to straighten out the chassis rail this is where getting it square can prove to be difficult but not impossible.

Best of luck with it. Take your time and do it right the first time.

Cheers

where abouts in NSW are you from? depending on how bent your front end is you may be able to unbolt everything off it and pull it out by hand!
87 targa brumby (Neglected),
92 targa brumby (weekend runabout),
97 Lifted Outback (Dailey drive),
05 outback safety (Too cheap to pass up),
90 model liberty (was to be scrapped instead sold to workmate)
+ others.

Cheers for the advise!

Bowral Nsw, 1 hr South of Sydney, unbolted all the front end found that the bar is too bent to bend back, chassis has'nt taken a hit mostly just the radiator/bonnet latch bar's bent!

I live just the other side of goulburn so could possibly have a look im not a qualified panel beater but have had enough experience to know what to look for! I might also have a spare panel lying around too if you have someone good enough to do panel welding!
