EJ dizzy option ??

Post by steptoe » Sat Aug 21, 2010 10:50 am

A dizzy was staring me in the face yesterday SMACK and wondered if it was a possible option for fittting to an EJ like TOONGAs etc. 10/94 Daihatsu Feroza 1600cc has 110mm between bolt centres, is 120mm from mating face to tip of cap, vac advance cannister underside and what struck me - leads out the top side as opposed to the top like normal MkIII Escort dizzy used. It is a DENSO unit part number 100291 - 2615 with a big 04 nearby. Did not get to see the important cam slot mating bits so still useles pondering here on my part

the other option I looked at was a distributor from a 2.2 litre mazda it is in a neat pile of stuff at RSR preformance waiting for me to come and get it.

this is what it looks like

it would need an adaptor made to fit it to the EJ head but a lathe and a drill press would sort that out

lol.. yeah.. stuff it going cheap.. like it's owner :D

Jonno.. I found this pic on the web of a Applause dizzy (which run the same HD 1.6 engine) but the cap will be different due to north/west or east/west configuration. As you can see that shaft piece in the engine side would need to be removed.
