ok put your hands up if you know about rovers (scouts)?

put your hands up if you knew that rovers did motorsport??

ok long story short i finnaly joined a rover crew but to join in mud bash, sandblasters and the like i need to build a car.
problem is it forbids 4wd so the idea about the subaru was out, then how about a subaru with the driveshafts taken out?
still allow rwd or fwd with low range??

well this is all good but we need a car.
and thats where this post comes in, does anyone have a subaru, prefer 4wd, prefer L series (cause i got parts and can fix em) and thats cheap or better yet give away to a good home??

I was once in rovers and did banana bash (qld) for my 8 years we had a old valiant and a bug. We won in our class in both cars on different years.

Another crew had a l88 brumby with the front shafts removed and rear diff welded. It went well when it was running.

I think a subi would be a good choice as it can easily be lifted and the engine could be moved a long way back if running in rwd only to achieve better weight distribution with a shorter tailshaft.

You should be able to find a l series shell pretty easy for not much money suitable for a bash car. But I think a old my (wagon as they are cheap) would be better as they had great rear wheel travel and the old ea81 is a great reliable motor that will run under water if sealed properly.

Another option would be the early model 2wd liberty's. they can be found for under $500 if this is what your budget allows.

Yes its hard to get much money for a bash car.
In our crew 90% of the members were not interested in putting in any money or much time.

It usually ends up that just a few do 90% of the work and even put in some of their own money but when bash comes around every one wants a drive!
All of the money usually goes to getting the car to comply with the rules (roll cage harnesses ect) and nothing left for the car.

You could try the wreckers. We got one of our cars that way and just put a few stickers on the car and they gave it to us free. It had a big ding in the back but we just cut the rear end off the car which gave us a much better departure angle anyway.
