Due to an unfortunate incident last weekend I have one very mangled
shock on one side. Figure it's time to replace
them. I need either loop to loop ( i have adators for the
top ) or loop to the correct side bar.



I want to do away with the lift blocks for them so have worked out I
need at least 600mm fully extended, I forgot to measure compressed.



Oh and this is my 4x4 pig, only gets driven on the road to get to/from
4x4 locations, so onroad ride isn't a big consideration, I want what's
best for the track.



I went to pedders this morning and they suggested either the



8128 Comfort for $154 / pair

or

9128 TrakRyder for $300 / pair



Both of these are 610mm fully extended. The TrackRyder is
quite thick being more heavy duty, but I think they'd still
fit. So off to ebay I go to find equiv shocks for hopefully
a much better price.



These look promising, but may need to press out the bar and put in a
bush at the top as I doubt it's the correct width to just bolt on :

not too sure what ones are out there or what to get... im interested in this one too..

just one thing to watch tho dont let the wheel travel go down too far, can easily end up pulling DOJ's apart just from dropping a wheel in a hole

im currently running the standard shocks with the 4" lift with no blocks on the top of the shocks

Really? Wow I'm amazed they stretch that far! Do you have the torsion bar wound right up ?

got the torsion bar wound up... and the torsion bar round an extra spline

usually carry a bit of weight in the back soit all sits about right, makes for a stiff rear end tho

my problem with the shock extensions was the shocks would bottom out with any bump, now they bottom out on the down travel going over a hole or something,, but that dosent seem to matter too much

I wouldn't touch Pedders with a barge pole. I don't want to step on their toes too much myself, I'll just let http://www.ripoffmerchant.net/ do that (coarse language warning BTW).

The shocks us WA boys all run are the HQ-WB Holden rear pump-up shocks, Monroe p/no MGR-504. I run them, Subarino runs them, Kliff does as does Subamike. Mike has a 4" kit too.

They're great cos you can adjust ride height and you can pump them back up for a heavy load.

Definately the way to go.

What would those shocks be like with a 2" lift kit? Too long?

You should still most likely use the rear lift extentions on the top of the rear Shock, I have the 4'' extention on the top of mine .

Dave, Kliff and I run only the adaptors for the top, no extension.

I brought the idea of running a 2" spacer up with Dave. My theory was it would allow more downward travel. He dropped one of his rear shocks and took a look. Apparently we're just fine running them the way we are. The shocks have more travel and a longer length than stock.

So you're saying DON'T use the extension?

How do they adjust? And what's the average retail on these puppies?
