				sure its been done but no-one does it. Doubt a v8 would fit in the engine bay without some serious mods.
theres very limited or no info on here about it id say

				Yeah I'd love to see it. Trouble with the Subaru's is the engine bays are only designed to have an engine 2 cylinders long in it (or 3 for the H6 type motors). The gearbox is quite far forward compared to other cars.

				There used to be a supercharged V8 Vortex getting around. It was a tubbed rear wheel drive. Looked the goods.

				The 357 cubic Ford powered Subaru Vortex Drag car ran a lightning fast pass of 9.19 @ 148.76 MPH over the standard 1/4 mile at Tasmania's AC Delco Motors drag strip in late March. Even quicker times are expect at the up and coming ANDRA bracket meeting at Victorias Heathcote Park Raceway on the 16th of April. Neil is quoted as saying "I ran the car fairly soft in Tasmania as the track surface was a little skatey and we didn't want to push it too hard. The Heathcote meeting should show the cars full potential we are hoping for a 8 second pass". Neil's previous best time with the current gear combination before treatment was a 9.33 @ 147MPH so the treatment has certainly made a difference. Dyno figures indicate an increase in horsepower and torque.
 
I'll see if I can find some pics of it some where. I very much doubt you would fit one in there with out having the harmonic balancer out where there radiator should be.

				It was at Motorvate Melbourne on the weekend, i got some pics i will but it up later. It bonnent gaurds have been extended by heaps.

				I'd say if it's in a Vortex then no reason why it wouldn't fit in a L.Series (albiet 2WD) being the same floorplan but you wouldn't be able to keep the Subaru 4WD setup. You could try the Holden Adventra setup but why would you want to 

 A flat6 in would be the best you'd be able to do without major engineering.

				that vortex looks insane
the legacy would be great as a v8 
and if you got ahold of a holden 253 v8 (good luck) or a rangerover aluminium block (3.7l I think)  Im sure you could shoehorn it into a L series but I don't think it would be long be for the gearbox made a funny noise and stopped working

				Yeah I saw that at winternats last year. 
Owner is a top bloke, still have his business car somewhere too.
I hit him up for vortex bits lol.

To be blunt, No. Open the bonnet of any Subaru and look at were the gearbox ends and the motor starts. To fit a 302 in front of the original gearbox it would stick a foot out the front of the grille and a foot through the bonnet as well. 
To achieve what? Nothing that couldn't be done with a bolt in ej20t. Im all for original projects but as i said, to be blunt, its a stupid idea

				why wouldnt we think of the toyota lexus v8, lighter + smaller too.
what about a two motor setup, one front wheel drive setup in the front and another setup for the rears. twin ej25 turbo, or call it ej50tt!. have to pull the rear seat out in l series.
