Just a few Questions.

Post by little_red_L » Wed Oct 14, 2009 6:30 pm

Hi all,
zech here, im kinda new, ive just got a couple of questions that need answering.
Ive got a (stock) 1990 L-series and i love beach driving:mrgreen:, but to get the L on the beach it needs a lift:(. I want a 4" body lift, im gunna leave the suspension geometry as close to standard as possible (for reliability).

1. I want to buy a kit from this site but don't know how:confused:. and does the AU kit come with a steering arm extension? Because i know that the Yanky SJR guys don't supply one:???:.

2. does any1 know the pricing of the AU kits?

3. For beach/sand driving is a harder or softer spring compound better?

4. When i lift the L 4" will i need to change anything else, like brake lines etc?

5. Ive got a set of pug 14" steelies waiting for me whats the max tyre size i should be able to run with a 4" lift?

6. how hard is it to convert to power steering?

So, thats all i can think of right now, i hope evry1 can help....

In answer to some of your questions

2. Have a look at this page. Or wait for one of the BYB to get back to you on this thread or via PM.
http://ausubaru.com/index.php?pageid=liftkits

3. Depends on the beach you are on really? What sand, etc?

4. Everything you need will come in the Kit. You will need to
change brakelines but they should come in the kit.

5. Max size tyre is hard to say as it depends on how much guard triming you want to do? But you should get away with 27" tyres

6. Converting to power steering isn't that hard, just unbolting old and bolting in new. Also note there is 2 different steerign extension on with power steering one without, so it might pay to go to power steering before the lift kit.

You don't need a 4" body lift to drive on sand, but if you've got your heart set on it, talk to this bloke: showthread.php?p=129638#post129638

27s will go on easily. Power steering is easy and very worthwhile, especially when you have big tyres on.

There's a few pointers here: showthread.php?t=13551. Not sure about the details of installing the pump on an EA82, but it can't be difficult.

Did you get the rack mounting brackets and bushes? They're different between manual and power racks. Apart from that it all just goes together like big heavy lego.
