Hi all,
I Just brought an 92 rs turbo liberty, Just wondering if there are any upgrades that could be done to improve performance of the stock motor.
My plan is to use this car for rallying as it is realy rough.

Depends on what your plans are...
Are you gonna increase boost? Are you gonna put better flowing heads.
Im guessing that you have a VF12 in there at the moment.
TD04s are easy to come by and would be a good upgrade if you are planning on running stock boost, but freeing up your exhaust with a 2.5" straight through and removing the intake resonator is a good idea. The factory panel filter causes sweet FA restriction so i wouldnt worry about a pod filter.
If you are chasing more boost, a bigger turbo might be better, such as a TD05 or one of the many VF series

My plan is to reduce the lower end lag.
I not that keen on increasing the boost.
I will be overhauling the entire engine as it's out.

Any major power increase is going to cost a fair bit of this $$$tuff. Quick simple and cost effective mods include a bleed valve to increase your boost to about 15-16psi. You will need a boost guage to do this correctly. Boost guage $50 or so. Bleed valve about the same these days.
3" mandrel dump pipe to a good 2.5 to 3 inch free flowing exhaust is a big iprovement. HUnt the forums or ebay and you should be able to pick a complete system from an Impreza for a few hundred dollars. It is not a direct fit but for an extra 60 or 70 clams you can get it modded to suit. Way cheaper doing this than buying a new system.
STi top mount intercooler is relatively cheap these days and far less expensive than repairing the water to air one you have now.
VF28 turbo is a great turbo that is quite cheap and very fast spooling. Far better than a TD04. It is not a direct fit for the intake though. You would need to get an elbow fitted to the front of it or swap your manifold for a later model one. The elbow is far easier.
Don't stuff with injectors other than to have them cleaned with a standard computer.
VOS chip or early sti ecu will improve your performance. About $200 or so. My preference is with the STi ones although a lot of people prefer the VOS chip. If you do get a different ecu it will run more boost with the standard set up. That is you won't need the bleed valve.
STi front cut really is the best way to go for good reliable HP. Best thing about it is you get a spare gearbox. You will break the one you have now in no time if you give it a hard time.

Cool Thanx, Ive heard that the early five speed boxes had issue's with reliability.
